Steve is reportedly still helping Jonathan and Lynn with the status discussions, at least until a replacement is found. Up until now we haven't had a real election process for these positions, but we'll make sure we do coming into the autumn and looking ahead into 2013.

For Worlds the North American status marshalls handles the application, makes all the necessary enquiries and makes a strong recommendation to the ISSA BOD. Formally the BOD then takes the decision.

Sort of, but not really. There might be a misunderstanding. I did offer to try and wrap up a few loose ends if needed. I sent Lynn and JBH an email listing the races we know about and the assignments I'd be in favor of. Each organizer pretty much gets the status they ask for. I was hoping that would be the last of my efforts unless if further discussion was needed. I was hoping we could just figure out the the rest of the season with the info we already had.

We know who the organizers are and what races are planned for 2012. It really isn't difficult to assign the status for each race and announce the season. It probably could have been announced a few months ago. But now, some assignments are in limbo because we don't know if there will be a worlds 2012 in Europe, Brazil or elsewhere. Perhaps someone in North America will need to jump in and host it last minute. We already have an organizer willing to do that. Will that erase the in-progress plans for worlds 2013 in North America? We could have announced a host for worlds 2013 in December. The 2013 host could be working right now to find larger sponsors. Right now a Major can't be assigned for North America until the worlds issue is sorted out. That also affects assigning the Main status races, because one of them might be upgraded to a major - or not - depending if an organizer wants it.

If there are plans for getting a new status marshal to help Lynn and JBH, I'd suggest finding one now.

Thanks.

Thanks Steve for jumping in. What you stated above is what I meant by "still helping". Although no longer on the "job" I appreciate your efforts to provide JBH and Lynn with advice on the rest of the season. I also thank you the efforts you've done over the last two years trying to get a better ISSA organization in place.

As you know we have had problems to find a suitable candidate for 2012 Worlds in Europe. At some point in time the BOD thought of a potential solution to celebrate the Worlds in a continent other than Europe and for this reason a number of potential organizers where surveyed, including the Texas Outlaws. They said they would honor that request, even if that meant hosting both the 2012 and the 2013 Worlds. It now looks that we might have a candidate in Europe. If it happens, we will have the Worlds in Europe. If not, unfortunately we will have no Worlds in 2012.
