The Worlds in Texas 2013

Post by Marcos Soulsby-Monroy » Mon May 20, 2013 4:36 am

Come and join the Texas Outlaws for the World Championships of Slalom in Houston (Hockley) Texas on October 11th 12th and 13th 2013. We will be running Giant, Hybrid and Tight slalom on the Hockley soapbox derby track.
For those of you who have not been to the soapbox derby track this is a spot as close to perfect of any venue that I have been to. The Asphalt on a scale of 1-10 is a 9, (9 due to some wear this past three years) the hill is a quarter mile long and drops at 1st a 6% then a 4% grade speeds can reach 30-35 MPH due to an almost constant tail wind.

On Friday we will run Giant Slalom. Giant Slalom will be run single lane jam style, cone penalty of .2 per cone and 15% dq limit. You will be able to pick your start, we will have the BAR (Big Ass Ramp, 9 feet tall.)

or The Ricky Byrd style ramp.

On Saturday we will run Hybrid Slalom. Hybrid slalom will be done 1st with qualifying and then head to head racing. Cone penalty is .10 and 15% DQ Limit. We will be using a Trakmate timer with false start detection and Ricky Byrd Style start Ramps. Please be aware that all racers who want to try and qualify are welcome to come but we will only take the top 16 into head to head racing in each class. Practice starts at 9:am racing at 10:30am.

Please be aware that all races who want to try and qualify are welcome to come but we will only take the top 16 into head to head racing in each class. Practice starts at 8:am racing at 9:30 am.
Please be aware that the class you claim is the class that you will be the Whole of the race weekend. So, what does this mean? Put simply, once you have claimed your status that is your status and you cannot change it.

We anticipate being able to give:
1st 800$
2nd 400$
3rd 200$
We will be awarding the same prize money to men pros as well as woman pros, this will be for all round placing, using the ISSA points system; this is assuming that we will have enough racers to cover expenses, but we feel that this should be pretty easy to get too.

Copy of Worlds e-mail

Hello
If you are getting this e-mail then you have signed up for The World Championships of skateboard slalom. First and foremost thank you so much for coming, without you there would be no worlds and we appreciate each and every one of you and your family and friends for joining us in Texas.
As all of you should know by now there are two websites where you can sign up, NCDSA (http://www.ncdsa.com/contest_registrati ... testID=566 ) and ISSA (http://www.slalomranking.com/ Events Registrants ) I will not repost the information on Hotels and such here just know that you can find all that information on either site, and as always any questions just ask.
As of this writing we are sitting at about 45 entrants form the two sites plus there are others that have said they are coming and have not signed up so I believe we are closer to 50. It also looks like we will have enough contestants in the Woman’s and Junior’s Classes to run full heats.
Pleaser if you can please send you entry fees via PayPal to Zboy74@me.com 125$ American 90$ for Juniors also American or be ready to pay on the hill on Friday, ALL Entry Fees MUST BE PAID BEFORE RACING, THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. Also please remember that there is NO alcohol allowed on the hill and that the cops are right next door in Hockley. If you get here on race week and get lost stranded or anything like that feel free to contact us via mobile phone. Eddy Martinez 956-792-4304, Humberto Salcedo 713-289-0883, Zack Levitt 713-818-9815 & Marcos Soulsby-Monroy 832-385-7985.
We have a great hill and a good crew and anticipate having great time! I can’t wait to make new friends and see olds ones again and I’m sure the Rest of the Texas Outlaw crew feels the same.
