Sam,
I was hoping for a Main event at Hog Hill in 2014, but I see it'll be difficult just a week before the Worlds. Main races are supposed to be held a couple of weeks apart. You couldn't make one of your other races a Main? Don't know what other high status races are coming in 2014, but it would certainly be good to have one in the UK.

Re: Thread to discuss Dates, Status voting etc. for 2014
Hi Jani,
I could see about the May date (17th & 18th) for a Main cat race, but this might conflict with the Paris WSC event being at a similar time. One of the chief difficulties we have is being able to book the cycle track for full days because the council property demands that a Child Cycling education program happens on Saturday mornings. The Euros this year was an exception because the roads had been made car free in order to allow for the Mayor's cycle ride. In addition, the Centre typically closes at 5pm. They have only recently made this possible to be extended because of testing financial circumstances. Again, I took full advantage of this for the Euros and it is dependent on Redbridge staff being both available and willing. And then there's the weather...
...having said that, would the May date be viable?
We would have to cut down entry numbers to allow for the reduced time available.
In the interim, should we think about a tiered points system that gives preferred options to racers having race entry? If a racer does not reply positively by a first round date, then the skater gets bumped to tier 2, and so on. Pros and Ladies could be Tier One, Top ranked Masters & Ams Tier 2, further Ams & Children Tier 3 and so on. This would also be a good way to cause family rows. Still, it might be a sensible way of controlling entry for Main and Major status competitions.
Just thinking out aloud!

I may be looking at another Brands Hatch event next year too - piggy backing onto the UK Drifting Championshis as before. Depending on dates and if we can get two days confirmed this could be a Main Event - The British Grand Prix or similar. However I won't know more until December time. Just something elese to go on the radar screen!

Re: Thread to discuss Dates, Status voting etc. for 2014
Sam,
It's part of the status marshals directives to spread out the Main events over the season. If that is not possible then exceptions will be granted taking into account all other considerations. I'll let them carry on the discussion from here, online, or offline with you to find a good solution.
At the same time I would like to encourage all organizers planning events 2014 to come forward and let us know preliminary plans.
For the racer selection, I personally am positive to a selection on the Main and Major races, and it has been through a first brief introductory discussion among the Board of Directors. We acknowledge it's definitely worth looking into. Corky has even developed a method for selection through the ranking and we need to review that system and see if it's fair and then figure out how to actually handle the registrations taking into consideration theses restrictions. May complicate the registration process for both participants and organizers, but in the end we'll have a more limited starting field based upon the "skill-level" ranking system we have.

Re: Thread to discuss Dates, Status voting etc. for 2014
It looks like the Swedes are planning a bit of a skate bash at the end of July, which will clash with the UKSSA dates of 26th/ 27th July.
I have brought our dates forward by a week to the 19th and 20th of July.
Is there the Paris comp next year? Will this clash with our May/ June dates? If nothing further is posted soon then our fixtures will become permanent.

There will be a PSWC 2014. But good question cause indeed this year the last week end is half may half june (May 30-31-June 1). I have to check with the Rollers and I confirm in a few guys ;) The thing is it depends on the city Hall. We will see.

Re: Thread to discuss Dates, Status voting etc. for 2014
Some news from Paris, as expected we can't change the dates of the PWC, since 2003 it's the last week-end of may, and 2014 will be no exception...
Unfortunately we can't move the date without losing our spot, and the event.
Hoping that the english race can have a second plan ?

We have swapped to the weekend before (24th 25th May) in the short term. This is a UK Bank Holiday which may cause problems, but in principal it's go.

Keep 'em coming! Status applications are being received by the EU (Ricardo Damborenea, Petr Janousek) and North American statusmarshals (Jonathan Harms, Lynn Kramer, MB Lavoie).
Peter Pletanek is stepping down from his position as EU status marshal and Calendar Responsible and he will be replaced soon to get the 2014 calendar organized and registered at SlalomRanking.com.
We're also looking for all types of volunteers. Can you throw in a couple of hours work for the ISSA? Let us know.

still for france :
Grenoble, 2014 June 27/28/29 is candidate for MAIN and Euro Champ 2014
Same as every year : gnarly GS, perfect flat surface for TS/HS, indoor spot if rain, prize money, audience, good ramps, good food, good organizing crew...

Hi - I was looking at booking flights as some of the airlines are having a sale.
Thanks to Sam mentioning he was moving a race to fit in with a Swedish race - but I can't see any references to Mika's race?
Is the Worlds at Policka date in 2014 confirmed? Was there going to be a Race the weekend before in Gothenburg? Which website has the latest information?
Any updated information please let us know - the cheaper the airfares the more racers can afford to plan a trip. If dates are late a lot of racers will miss out, Thanks, Paul

Paul,
Mika has not made announcements yet on the site, but the date is set to July 25-27 (not sure yet if it's all three days).

US Nationals -- So Cal Racing & LCB are getting our plan together to host the US Nationals in Oceanside, CA (4th Annual) July 19-20, 2014 at the Loretta Street venue.
This year we are also coordinating with the La Costa Reunion organizers so our events can work together on the same weekend. Between the two, events are being planned for Friday through Sunday. Two great reasons to plan a visit to sunny So Cal for a long weekend in 2014 -- double bang for your buck!
Sanction app will be submitted and all the details coming soon.
