dont forget there are some turner tribute boards we had made.33x9 full shape,big camber.there is a few out there,i still race mine and one (a prototype that proved too stiff) that is on display in gothenburg this summer.c

This WAS the selection of turners I had up to a couple of years ago. They ranged from Steven Church-era Cutaways, Auroras and Fullnoses back to Wes Carpenter Blackbirds (all sold) and Bobby Turner Fullnoses...
I just have 2 of Bobby's left.
The 1st 3 are an inverted Aurora, an experiment back in 2004 into concaves and foam kicktails...

Here are my terms:

Add up EVERYTHING YOU HAVE (I would estimate the kids in the low 5-figure range.)

TRIPLE IT

AND THEN BORROW TWICE AS MUCH.

That would serve as a decent down payment.

Cool! Hyde Park and Hove are the 2 main Hotspots (no pun intended) of activity at present, drop me a line if you fancy going to either.

Hi Martin. Just doing the recreational bit and shooting some cones at weekends with my son - which is great. I live on Hayling Island (South Coast). Would like to get into the UK scene though, it looks really healthy.

I'm suffering Turner withdrawal, mine are in storage in the US while I'm in the UK. A much ridden/loved Yellow Fullnose and an original Fullnose that Gilmour sprayed Mercedes metallic blue mounted with polished lazers and La Coastas.

Harvey, are you still slaloming? There is a burgeoning scene in the UK if you are interested...Whereabouts are you in the UK?

Heres my Turners, the two greenies are both mint and undrilled 1978 Cutaways, the middle one is one of Bobbys "Pollock" Art boards from early 2002 - interesting to compare the shape of the shoulders from the early to later boards - I presume this was to give more front foot surface area for modern riders?

I know that Turners are designed to be ridden, but I just cant bring myself to do it - they scare the bejesus out of me.

Also got a Turner GS Hybrid which is such a great board, and I still whip it out for fun (oo-err missus)...

Yeah, it's nice but from what I've read of IGSA downhilling, both my board and this earlier Gun are both "illegal." As I understand it the IGSA has a rule about boards with pointy ends. Don't want anyone to get speared.

I don't know, though, if the IGSA sanctions pure downhill speed drops anymore like the old Signal Hill races. Maybe in that sort of competition where it's only one board at a time these Turners could find a place?

That board is seven years old. Either Bobby or Vince layed that up sometime in 2002. Howard Gordon commissioned it and it ended up being a one off.

When I got the second modern day Downhill Gun, the shape is what you see here. As far as I know the board with the "Turner" logo-ed grip tape was a one off. I believe Gilmour had it for a while. I do not know where it is now. Whether JG still has it or he sold it is unknown to me.

$80 for a CutAway and $100 for a Full Nose.

According to the online inflation calculator (http://www.westegg.com/inflation/) that is $270.08 and $338.50 today compared to 1978.

I never saw (or paid) another advertised price between 1978 and 1982.

man, i sold so many boards i wish i kept track of who got what.....that board was a one of a kind made with the new materials after Steve church bought the Turner name....it preceded the Eurofighter.

The rails on it are on a steeper contour than the older models and it's lighter.

The shape is the same as the original Sims-Turner boards with the longer/thinner nose than the later cutaway....and of course that really big camber....nice to see it again!

Do you have any history on that board? I'm going to lend them to a museum in Gothenburg for an exhibition this summer!

The green one was made by Bobby Turner for the Sims team, I guess in the early eightys. It is an amazing board, perfeckt handcraft, and super nice to ride! it was undrilleed when i got it!
I think all boards Turner made for the Sims team at that period where green, maybe green was their team colour?
