I just received my E-series Concave Chicken model the other day and it feels great on my street. I'll be running it through some cones for a complete test tomorrow. Of course it is nearly 70F here right now (20C) so I can't comment on the temperature. Sorry to rub it in guys. Gotta love California winter!

cold day hot decks ...
Hi Carsten,
no problem - I have tested my 36'' at about 2°C in early 2003 - it works well. Don't fear - use it .

Hi Vinz,
I just set up the Chicken ( medium stiff) for Winter training. I don't want do destroy my foam GS from PPS. I don't know if the cold weather is bad for my foam board in the wintertime ?!
And the Hardcore Chicken works very well for me, good shape, medium stiffness , and some PPS Foam blocks to get some concave for the front foot, and a big tail block for the back foot.
Withe the tail block its kind of riding a s-camber !

Thanks Rich!
I'm using Mozilla most of the time and you're right... I can see the boards descriptions with MS Internet Explorer but not with Mozilla.
I definitely feel safer using Mozilla and Firefox but sometimes this kind of things arrive...
So I can see that the Hardcore shape is different from the E Series Concave
Chicken Dagger Hardcore
Hardcore Dagger The Hardcore series decks are made from hardrock maple and our own special Hardcore laminate. Length: 33 1/8” Width: 8.50” Wheel Base: 21 1/8” & 22 1/8” Available Flex: Soft, Medium, Stiff Camber: Heavy or Light
Chicken Red Dagger E Series Concave
The Chicken Red Dagger Concave Model is one of the first new concave slalom boards available from PPS. These boards are made with two separate layers of glass and epoxy sandwiched between layers of hard rock maple for a killer responsive flex. Length: 33 1/4” Width: 9.0” Wheel Base: 21 1/8” & 22 1/8” Coming Soon!

Depending on what kind of computer and browser you are using, the description text about each deck on the pocket pistols website may not be visible. It appears as black text on that dark background of punk rock flyers. but if you mouse over it like you are selecting some text...voila...some text appears and is readable.
For example, here is what it says for the E-series Dagger:
"The Chicken Red Dagger Concave Model is one of the first new concave slalom boards available from PPS. Finally got out to ride yesterday. I took the Hardcore E-Series Smokestack for a spin. We hit a small hill. speed 15-20 mph. The board cornered very well. We ran 8-10ft offsets at the top of the hill ( pronouced heel in TX ) followed by 20-7-8 ft offsets then 20-6 ftrs straight at the bottom. The Concave kept my size 12 ft in place. The board was very easy to control on feather slides as well. No wheel rub, the wheel wells eliminate that from happening. Chicken once again thank for making such a nice and affordable board. Smokestake wood/fibreglass Concave
I got the med flex(I weigh 165, used the 20.25" wb) from Chicken at Morro Bay, I finally tried it at home and it feels SOOOO good on hybrid and tight, it easily compares to a foam core.
Chicken, Please keep making these, the low-budget intro and midlevel slalomers need this kind of board badly, and the rest of us upper peanut gallery riders do as well. I could'nt get ahold of you by e-mail, it was good racing you on sunday. Later-Paul

Re: Bad-ass wood (and fiberglass?)
Those have been up on the pocketpistol website for a few days now. The E Series Concave Slalom Decks. They're going for $74.95Jonathan Harms wrote:At La Costa, Chicken also had a couple of these decks (Smokestack, Chicken "Dagger") that had a fiberglass (I think?) layer on the top, and a slight concave as well. He said that if he produces them, they would likely sell for about $10.00 more than the all-wood versions. As with all of his stuff, they looked very well made.
Also, for what it's worth, I've stood on Jeff Goad's new Smokestack wood deck (all wood, no concave), and it has a slightly different camber than his (and my) foam-core Pocket Pistols. The highest part of the camber is shifted somewhat forward, which effectively makes the rear part of the deck seem to slope more toward the rear, and it tends to shift your weight rearward as well. It's a rather different feeling. I haven't really ridden his, but he said he loves how it feels and rides.

Hey Mathias,
I rode the Smokestack Proto that Simon had at Hove (England) about 2 months ago... Lots of concave, very manoeverable through 5 foot straight and tight offsets. The concave makes it very responsive. I think he got the idea for the shape from a board he rode for years that was the same shape cut from a Santa Cruz blank-very functional, very nice...
