As far as I understand the UKSSA exists because Chris Linford has put all his energy into creating a UK race series. I think it started in an organized form in 2002. We spoke a lot at the time when I started to get back into this sport and it was the pure, simple fun of head to head racing at his Eastbourne Flatland slalom event in July 2002 which convinced me to get back into racing.
Every country needs a race series like the UKSSA race series to make sure there's a healthy local scene. Only the top racers can be expected to travel across continents or oceans to participate in several events in a year and even those won't make it to all the events in a year. Local series doesn't have to (and probably shouldn't) be large scale events. The fun factor is the most important.

What is the UKSSA?
Chris,
Can you give us some statistics on your organization?
What is the history of the UKSSA? How many enthusiasts, where you ride/race etc?
I am interested and I want to be informed.
Thank you in advance.
