Dan,
I got your e-mail. I responded with an attachment. I hope this won't blow up some sort of spam filter on your server.
Let me know if you get it. If not, I'll upload it to an FTP you can access.
Oh. It's a 198K .zip of two items. One of the two will expand to about 1.7MB.

Chronocone has a display interface (program) built in.
You can set the preamble characters to send to the display and then it displays the time and name of the racer.
Unfortunately, the display I got from EBAY is a bit small and not very bright for outdoors....
You can download Chronocone to your computer and see if you can get the display to work with it:

Dan,
Do you have Filemaker 7? If you do let me know. I'll forward something to you.

Looks like the DC races will soon have a a professional scoreboard.
Vlad, when you figure out the display, e-me. I'd love to see that be able to work alone or interface easily with my iBook. ( I could *probably* figure out a timing app under vbasic or filemaker - I began (and aborted) one a while ago. I'm afraid that it might need input from it's own PC program and I'm no programer.)
He has another one up now, and presumably, the last up a week from now.
I'm not greedy - and this is a great deal for those running races.

I think Marcus Seyffarth is your partner in this pursuit. That would be a really cool add-on to his software. He's already developing all the rest (like a PC connection for the Trackmate). I'd love one of those. It's definitely worth having a look at.

I'm in the process of mputting together a timing system and have been brainstorming how I want it to work when I came across this on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/GREAT-VORNE-DIGITAL ... dZViewItem
It is a 12 digit 4" display with a built in timer.
$90. +shipping.
I think it would be a bit too much to get it to work alone, but anyone currently using a PC for timing or spreadsheets may want to jump on these. (they're usually ~$900. He has 3.)
If anyone can figure out how to yse it with a Mac, I'd appreciate it....
Otherwise, take it as a skate public announcement. Snatch them up!
