Open class rookie of the year. Eric Moore....no offense Eric but you really were very slow when you started when I met you in the Boston Common- seems like just last summer...and now you race well and went to all those races. You should be an inspriation for people just thinking about trying out the sport and having the guts and popping down the cash to make it to all the races. Nice Job. Now I have to try and match your participation.

O.K. What about rookie of the year? And while we are at it what about slalom city of the year?

Noah Heinle for open.
Kenny for pro

This statement has some FCR bias but after what I saw this weekend in Morro Bay, I'd vote for Nature Boy. Kenny had a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd this weekend to go with his other two wins earlier this year.

I could see a strong argument for Luca though. A 1st, 2nd, and 4th this weekend.

Hey Hanz, tell that to TK, I would have won the reaction time with my .043. TK, you can ship the prize to me...just kidding.

No matter how much I despise that guy...
"The buzz come true". The untouchable. The fastest going thing on "grinding" wheels and the most progressive slalom board there is.

Why not... Luca it is.

LUCA!

Everyone has missed the one guy that has created the biggest buzz so far this year, like it or hate it his myth followed him before we all saw him and unlike alot of others his myth was justified by his riding.

Luca Giammarco

.008 reaction time! That would have been considered as a false start in the athletic games...

I think that John Ravitch would be an excellent choice as a nominee for skateboard slalom racer of the year.

I know John personally and he is a really nice guy. He represents the sport well, is probably THE most improved AND has placed well in many races.

Great nominations.

I'll throw Chris Barker, Paul Howard, John Ravitch and Noah Heinle out there.

I nominate Keith ( THE MACHINE ) Hollien from Florida. WHY? The guy has been out there promoting slalom long after slalom took an exteneded nap. Keith was kind enough to give me encouragement after my first contest attempt at the Luna Slalom Jam. He called my house and gave my alot of usefull slalom tips. Anytime I have a slalom question I know I can ask Keith. The brother is so fired up and stoked about slalom it just rubs off on you. He and the rest of the Florida bros are some of the friendliest bros you will ever meet. Eddy Texas Outlaw.

I nominate Brian Parsons.

Not only has Brian organized the DC outlaw series and helped with numerous other races and given up his race time....that didn't stop him from improving his racing skills. Parsons time in "da Farm 3.0 GS was faster than all of Florida, despite the fact that Mark McCree got 4th at the July 4th race.

For Europe- I think it goes to Jani Soderhall for helping to pull off the Paris World Cup- and spearheading the rebirth of slalom in Europe and also returning to racing.

For the West Coast? I haven't raced there this year to say.
I think it is hard to select a single Slalomer of the year as Europe, East Coast, and Westcoast have been relatively separate.

Cool idea, sounds like something for the "after season". Let's make it an annual thing.

Nominations can start any time, but I guess they will be even more appropriate after the two important races of September:
- The European Championships in Antibes
- The FCR World Championships in Morro Bay

2003 Slalom Skateboarder of the Year

I propose we nominate candidates, and then put them to a vote, for the 2003 Slalom Skateboarder of the Year.
