I found the menu! I found the menu! Did I win anything? What do I get?

I had the same problem of not noticing the menu also. In fact, on my browser of choice, the menu doesn't show even when I roll over it. It was not until yesterday, when I viewed the site with Mozilla, that I discovered the menu and its features.

I had the same problem as Jani finding the menu.

If you made some or part of it permanently visible, that would help.

I took one of the pictures from your site, the one of Bryan Werner and made a re-sizing test.

First I reduced the height & width of the picture as it was higher than my screen size. It was done while preserving the proportions (so that the image would not be distorted). The image width was reduced from approximately 600 pixels to 400. Resizing the pictures like this does a lot for the size reduction (on disk).

Then I resaved the picture with '60' as the compression/quality factor using Photoshop's "Save for web" menu option.

The result is that the size of the picture is now 64 kb rather than 528 kb - almost 10 times smaller.

The larger image sizes (like 500 kb or more) are only necessary when printing images. Images that should display on web pages should probably not be more than 100 kb.

Let us know what kind of imaging software you have and we'll try to help you get started with your image resizing.

PS. I also found it difficult to locate the menu on top of the board. Making that menu more visible will encourage people to visit every part of your site.

Hi, Karl. Your site is ailing the same way the NoVA Bombers' site - The pics need to be compressed better. They could probably be compressed to less than 1/2 of their current quality and the viewer would not be able to tell the difference.

Some time this month I am planning on overhauling the site to something better. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. http://www.slalomspot.com
