slalom youth coaching program

Post by Jon Warburton » Tue May 25, 2004 12:01 am

i'm putting together a slalom coaching program for a youth project in cornwall UK. if anyone has experience of similiar i could do with some advice. i need to project achievable goals and build them into lesson plans.

also we plan to run a localised "cyber salom" between villages in the county.

any manufacturers out there think this is a good idea then perhaps you could help us out with some kit? any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Gary Holl may be able to help you. If I am not mistaken, he put on some classes at Yahoo (I think he works for Yahoo, the internet search engine) that were successful. He may have a class itinary or a syllabus that he can help you with. I realize that you stated it was a "youth project" but Gary is a coach no less. I'm not volunteering for him but I know he can help.

John Gilmour may also be of assistance. I know he has coached many young people.

Maybe contacting Jack Smith at Bahne to campaign for a Blackhill board or Judy Oyama at Giro/Bell, I know they have supported a group before with some helmets.

Doesn't Michael Stride own a skateshop, Octane Sport? Perhaps he would want to support a local slalom skateboard group.

Let us know.

I lived in Cornwall CT for a summer- lots of local thundershowers there.

I regularly visit.

I've also coached at some Prep schools in the area- of course I would like to continue this- but I'm not skating now to do so.

Cornwall UK is too far for me.

Youth skating is what slalomspot.com is all about, although we ourselves are in our infant stages we would love to support any training of junior riders.

Email me Karl@slalomspot.com and maybe we can work together, I am considering starting a Euro Slalom Spot and I need some europeans interested in teaching youth. I hope to meet some good junior riders at Köln for a possible team.
