Found this on the SkateTN.com website:
http://boardtesting.com/default.php
This skater developed means and procedures for testing and determining performance and wear characteristics for different board and construction methods. His "nose tip abrasion" test set up is really cool. Based on what I could discern from his site, his really big question was if replacing a $75 blank with another one every few days or weeks really was a better way to improve his skating instead of smashing and bashing some $15 blanks with the same shape? Sort of my attitude about shoes.
According to his post on SkateTN, he received several awards from the ASME and other professsional engineering associations.
Very Interesting non-slalom skateboard test site
