Slalom champions

Post by Gustavs Gailitis » Mon Jul 13, 2009 9:46 pm

If someone has got such a information, please post ALL the World and European champion names in slalom history (year, racer name and discipline)!

I think that such a statistics would be useful not only for racers, but also for journalists to know which are the most titled racers in this sport!

The lists were ultimately compiled by Josef Stefka with the
help of forum members.

Fabian,

Unfortunately I didn't see your Gold medal or Diploma.
Of course, you are the best European in EM 2009!

And Chris Hart was the best in Stockholm in 2005 in Pro group.

Just got me wondering about why we call it the european championships if it has nothing to do about determin european best riders...

Never the less, Martin was in a class of his own :-)

I was so disappointed with the whole organization so I left before it started!
I couldn't stand riding in another parking lot outside of the competition area, I just got into my car and kept driving! For me that was the definitive end of joint events between all skateboarding disciplines.

This was not parallel, not really straight and had individual start where the lifting of front wheels was introduced I believe.

I'm pretty sure it was in Madrid. For the Italian event, Gianluca just picked a cool name, which happened to be close to the "EM" name. We should check the Slalom! mags (this issue was never uploaded to the site).

We still need to clarify who won the Pro class in Vancouver 1986. I don't recall if it was Skoldberg or Hester, but José won the AM class with a time faster than the winner in the Pro class, so can leave him alone in that position until we find out.

Claude, weren't you in Vancouver 86? Anybody else has the results, ideally the complete list!?

Canadian Slalom Champions

There were no National or Slalom Championships run in Canada between ‘82 (except ’86) & ’90. Then again nothing until 2006.

I will look into some old photo’s and try to determine the female winner in ’81 as I believe I may have a photo somewhere..

Not sure prior to ’81

- Jim Minty (Ottawa) or Mark Anthony (Montreal) were 1st & 2nd at the Nationals held in Ottawa in 77 or 78. It was a 16 & under only Canadian Championship. I do not know who won the Slalom event.

I don't see any of the 2002 results here. From memory:

Overall Pro: Barrett Deck
Overall Open: Paul Price
Overall Women: Terry Brown

Pro Men's GS: Charlie Ransom
Pro Men's Hybrid: Barrett Deck

Open Men's GS: Siale Siali
Open Men's Hybrid: Paul Price

Women's GS: Terry Brown
Women's Hybrid: Terry Brown

If I remember Dylan and Lauren Gordon won the boys and girls title.

Good eye, Wesley. I'm pretty sure I sent Jani the 2002 Men's champion (Chicken) but not the others. FWIW, I'm pretty sure it's Barret (one t), not Barrett.

This is a good idea guys.

Gary -- please add:
2004 - TS US National Champ - Richy Carrasco
2006 - TS US National Champ - Richy Carrasco
2006 - Overall Pro US National - tie Jason Mitchell & Richy Carrasco

Getting Lynn's stats together and any others I can to provide coming up.

Maybe this thread should be given it's own heading rather than be under "random"? Probably others will get involved in adding stats if it's easier to spot.

Cheers!

There was a Straight in 2006 in Riga, Latvia. I won it against Maurus Strobel. ;)

Just noticed this list is virtually all XY chromosomes. Maria, how many world titles in various disciplines has Lynn won? I'm having trouble remembering all of them!
