The original Lazer Slalom trucks are pretty hard to find these days, whereas the narrower Freestyle model is more readily available. Having seen a pair of the latter converted to the former by See Jim (Harmon) at www.skaterham.com , I picked up a set from www.theskateshop.co.uk and sent them out to MMW for similar treatment in order to make the ultimate in retro TS skate filth.

There were a couple of additional engineering requests:

That the kingpin be reversed, voiding the need for the baseplate lock-nut and thereby making the truck more immediately adjustible.
And to Dualie it up, offering axel widths of 80mm to 100mm in ultralight 'pimp my ride' titanium.

Jim, I'm a little concerned that you might love them a little too much, but I'm always happy to pimp 'em out for a trial.

Speaking of 'Ooh matron, hot porn sauce!' I was down at the new Slick Willies Store http://www.slickwillies.co.uk/ on Thursday showing the staff my Roe slalom board and directing them to both this site and to NCDSA.

'Run by skaters, for skaters' the shop claims. 'Put your money where your mouth is' I politely replied, encouraging their team to head on down to Hyde Park for a bit of a try out.

I also reminded them of their original shop-sponsored Team. Ring any bells?

Oh yes Sam. those were the days.
Just us lot and the Benjy team, neither ever competed together as we didnt ride vert, and they didnt do slalom. It was quite handy as when a skate park opened we all had our own space and everyone got to see slalom, park riding and freestyle done to the highest standards of the day. It's great to see the shop is still thre and I will be paying them a visit to see how much it has changed.
Pleeese Sam if you let me try them out I will let you try my new Blackbird,
shhhhh keep it to yourself LOL
Looks like there will be a "Porn in the Park" sesh or two this year then.

I rode Sams deck in Stockholm on the Special Slalom, which was very tight indeed.
He had the Lazer on the front and it was a beauty.

i would highly recommend them.

are they modifyed like that to be more aerodynamic, or do the feel better (besides what he does with the axles and stuff)

Hi Luke. These trucks are modified for quite a few reasons.

1) In order to save rotational weight and therefore reduce the possibility of the board arcing away from underneath you in pendulum effect.

2) To allow a varied selection of axle widths so that the trucks can handle today's Tight and Special courses. The trucks were originally very narrow.

3) To make the truck more easily adjustible in a race situation.

4) The SL version is a classic truck that in UK TS circles was regarded as The tight truck to use. The SL trucks are incredibly difficult to come by; The Freestyles more easily so. By pimping out the Freestyle it becomes a useable Tight Slalom truck and fulfills the nostagia tip. And they feel good!

5) Aerodynamics are an incidental bonus, but I'll take every advantage going. No shame in racing!
