Design of slalom area

Post by Toby Warg » Fri Mar 14, 2008 3:57 pm

We have been given an opportunity to design a slalom area up in the coldness of northern Sweden, and we would like your input on how we should do it.

As always, money is an issue. Therefore, we will thread lightly, and only ask for a TS/Hybrid area.

What are your suggestions as of lenght and width? Is asphalt the preferred surface?

Unfortunately, we will have to share this park with other groups, so we do not know where it will be, and therefore, we do not know if it will be flat or on a slope.

So, what are your thoughts on this?

Asphalt, 20 feet wide, (two 10-foot lanes) 5% grade, plenty of run out. At least 500 feet of grade and an appropriate run out. (I guess that would seven meters wide and 150 meters long.)

Sidewalks. Round curbing (no walls for boards to smash into) NO GUARD RAILS, free concessions served by half naked teenaged nymphs, maybe a closed circuit instant replay on a large jumbotron screen. A chair lift. Perhaps a hot tub and maybe some skyboxes with large upholstered chairs for spectators?

Thanks for the input. 7-10 m * 150 m sounds good.
We are lucky. The nymphs does come for free in Sweden. The rest can be a bit expensive. ;)
