Steve Olson is continuing his personal European Tour. This week he has spent a couple of days in Stockholm. This Wednesday all the Stockholm locals where meeting up for another race in the EttSexEtt slalom cup. Steve was there and everybody was thrilled. It became a hard fight between Marcus Seyffarth, Peter Klang and Steve Olson. The result is still not official but it seems like Marcus lost one of these races for the first time. Klang was the happy man this day. Steve Olson took third place.
Steve will continue his Tour and will be in Switzerland for the coming weekends Burning Wheels Tour. The week after it's Grüningen where Peter Klang and myself will show up. The only Swedes in Grüningen this year I'm afraid.
Soon pics and results from this historical Stockholm race will show up.

The official result is up on http://www.ettsexett.com. Marcus finally was ahead of Klang after all but it was a really close race.
Worth mentioning is that we tried a new display for the timing system. I brought along my portable and was running a small display program that Marcus have made. My portable was connected to the timer computer with a null modem cable. The display program was looking at the result file of the timer computer and showed the current times and standings. Perfect thing to have a look at while waiting in line to take your runs.
The time shown is the total of the two best runs made.

Olson is Swedish. The origin is spelled Olsson. Many surnames in Sweden ends with son. It's historical reasons behind that. A long time ago you where named after your fathers first name. So mr Andersson was the son of Anders. Svensson the son of Sven. Olsson was the son of Ola and so on. The son names can be found in Denmark and Norway as well. Girls was named the same way as for example Svensdotter, the daughter of Sven. Since girls always took the name of the boys when getting married these names have all disappeared. On Iceland though it's not unusal to see surnames ended with dottir. Maybe they didn't have enough men on the island? The men was probably often out crusing in their Viking ships. Did you know that island actually meens Iceland in Swedish.
The naming of Olsen, Olson, Andersen, Anderson is derivations of the origins Olsson and Andersson.
If Steve Olson would have been born in Sweden his name would have been Stefan Olsson instead.

Is Olson planning to defect to Sweden? Are there plans for a draft?
