maybe...
carsten's statement is true.
it is also true that we practiced there on different courses the hole week before the race.
the final course has been set on thursday/friday with the help of all the people skating there during those days.
stephan hinzen who scored first in the tight ams,didn't skate the course at all,prior to the race.
and,marcus,you better show up next year again,even though cologne has no beach hahahahaha

Very hospitable bunch of guys in Germany, as has been my experience in both Switzerland and France.

An aggressive attitude as regards inclusion doesn't lend towards an environment of discussion and unity. Its best application should be within the throes of competition.

Chris, since Paul Price got 3:rd in special I can't really see your point in claiming UK was missing... Too bad not more people could make it though...

As Donald said the wibe was good among the racers, the weather was nice, there were food stands, good music in a sound system during the course and a couple of tents that sold skate stuff. But as far as competition goes you didn't really miss anything. The races were delayed (as always), the courses had been set long time ahead so locals could practice and the classes where mixed during the day so that everybody had to stay at the racesite from early morning till late night. Also a few mix ups with lanes/riders/times and cone penalty made that reruns had to be done (complete round of 16 in pro special for example).

I had a good time skating and met a lot of nice people. That is a big part of why we do this, but to be honest I'm probably not coming next year, it's not worth the effort to travel 2 days by car to a competition, hang out at a site and mostly wait not knowing what is going on for 2 days and then travel 2 days back home again. Compare this to the competition in Antibes where things was (almost) on schedule, you really had time to go swimming, hang out with the other skaters and have fun...

peter,you seem to be really pissed,but you should know this:

axel tried his best to make this event possible and he's one of the nicest guys around.i know that a lot of small and some bigger things went wrong,but he and his crew tried to cope with em as good as possible.
don't take your ranking too serious,after all it's supposed to be fun to skate or race.one race won't affect your world ranking that much as you think.
besides that,i think it's cool to apologize about the incident with the cone girl.
but...
it would be way better to keep your temper under control next time,so you don't have to apologize later on.
the event was ok as it was-good vibes,supernice people and crew.
they all gave their best to make this thing happen for all of us.
see it as that and swallow your anger.

Sorry if I made anyone cry or if i hurt anyone, I apologize. Out of a riders perspective I feel there is two things that must have zero tolerance of mistakes. Cone count and competitors time. After viewing several recordings of the race I feel unfairly treated by Alex. Rather than asking me or anyone of the experience riders how to coup with the problems I was told not to complain at all. But I have now looked at numerous runs on tape were the cone count was wrong and even some DQ (8 cones taken on the wrong side), and then back on track and not given a DQ, advancing to the top eight in pro rather than being knocked out. The times was mixed up, the second day it was given a rerun, but the first day it wasn’t. These are mistakes that forever changes the results. I do believe Maurus Strobel was the best man in pro and that the amateur champions was correct, but to state the top 10 am/pro results was correct would be misleading. It might seems unnecessary of me to bring this up but Köln was a MAJOR event and the highest point toward the world rankings was given. Two years from know that’s all people are going to remember. That’s why the cone count and time can’t be wrong, it effects the end results.

Peter,

last year in Grueningen a lot of things went wrong, we talked about it and solved it. Maybe you should clearly state what is wrong in the first place and not simply complain and say the organizers did not get it together.
I think it is a little unfair and not very polite to simply complain and not make clear point of what is wrong.
I talked to one of the helping girls who had burst into tears after your "complaining" (or whatever) to her. This is no joke. It is true.

I´m sitting on Tenerife Island no surf and too hot to skate. I am reflecting on Köln and get this bitter teast in my mouth.

I have choosen not to write before, cuz my anger would color my objective. I do know how difficult it is to run a big event, thats just why I think it must be a International body whom gives guidelines on how to run slalom events. If we ever want to be looked upon as a sport we have to get our shit together and have ISSA give the orders. I know Jani and Corky, two really nice guys, maybe too nice, but their idea of how the international community of slalom could be run must be heard and listened to.

Organization made it right, people were nice, beers were "supa gut"

The races were fast, perhaps some will say giant wasn't really giant (but more an hybrid or special) but I suppose a big giant would have need a wider road to set 2 parallel lines ...
TS were tight but with offset

A lot of "old timers" made their come back to slalom race this WE.. (stefan, heinrik, donald ...) and they're damn fast!!!
Experience seems to be important for slalom, I've got still a lot to learn.

Tight tight courses and very high level of racing and friendship, real good vibes and a fantastic organisation!
Thank you Axel and crew for everything. Your girls once again did an amazing job and you deserve the utmost respect of the worldwide slalom community. Thank you thank you thank you.

Please don´t be discouraged by some people complaining about things here and there, this will asways happen and you cannot fulfill everyone´s wishes. You did a tremendous effort to make us all welcome.

The racing was fast and tight. There were a little too many cones hit because of the very tight courses for my taste, but is was fun anyways.

I saw new equipment here and there and there are a lot of custom made or small labels coming up.

The future looks bright!

I had a blast. It was great to meet everyone from so many different places. The competition was though and everyone was in good spirits.
