Brands Hatch
Fred,
Brands is a glorious place to race. It's both fast AND grippy; the latter because the track has a rubber compound included in the tarmac. Some of the local race boards have ground-effect designed in. Many of the Essex skaters have carbon splitters up front with deep section spoilers holding down the rear.
Me? I just stick with NOS.
This track is only available on short notice; even then we are reliant on the good nature of the locals and prevalent weather. Hiring the place costs thousands. It's really out of the question for us 'spit-and-sawdust' types.
If we hear of it's availability, then of course we'll let you know.
And no. Of course we won't practice on it first.

Superb event, Great weather, must have been 90. Good but very tech courses and a injury free day (well almost)
Please take a look at some pics of the event (click on the one below). Please note that these are copyright and have not been corrected in any way except for cropping. If anyone wants any prints please get in touch.
Hope this event can be finalised for next year well in advance so that we can expect some europeans and americans to come over. It is a first class venue.

Just spoke to Brands Hatch as Ncdsa has gone down again so I can't post there.
As I now understand it from Brands....
£12 per person per day to enter Brands Hatch on Saturday and Sunday.
Under 12's free, camping free for the Saturday night.
No word on how much the comp itself is yet.
Brands will not change the entry fee at all.....ITS £12!!
Later's Edwin (She-Male)

Here's the latest on Brands Hatch from the UKSSA:
This is what I have so far, but still a little sketchy.
We will have to pay entrance to Brands at £12 per day, maybe we get a discount or there will be a weekend fee. Hopefully this means we do not need insurance. Under 12s free.
Other fees will be minimal £10 for both days if we do not have any large expenses to cover.
This will include camping
I do not think this too high and may give us greater access in the future, we just pay entrance.
I hope to set-up Friday evening, so if possible could I get my hands on the switches, or bring them to the track. We hope to construct the ramps Friday night.
I will let you know more as I get it.

Yeah Steve.
The notice was short as Brands Hatch has new owners and they had to be persuaded to let a skateboard race continue to happen on their track.
Hopefully if this event goes well a date for next year can be arranged with time for people to make holiday plans. See you in Antibes!
Cheers,
Paul
p.s.
It will be good to see Donald from Pavel skateboards at the race, he will be bringing boards and gear with him from Germany if anyone wants to order from him:

UK Racing update
Brands Hatch:
Update from Chris Linford at the UKSSA
The status at the moment is this:
I am waiting on final confirmation but Adrenalin X, who have to arrange the track time for us, are occupied in other events. I have informed Brands of this and hope that the time will be allowed. At the moment we can not see any problems.
I am away for two weeks so will get back information asap as I get it.
If it all goes wrong I have a great hill which is illegal to race on a Sunday; Nutsack has seen it, and we could use something like Palace on the saturday. This may help people to make plans, but we may be busted, which will be fun.

Gatwick airport is as easy an airport to fly to as any. I could probably pick up one or two riders on Saturday morning (given car space); others might be able to collect on Friday. If it looks like more skaters are coming then I'm sure that we could hire a van for the weekend and sort out transport that way.
Please post your flight arrival and departure details here so that we have an easily accessible schedule for collection/ transport.
Also, please post your accommodation.
The camping option (as mentioned above) is pretty sensible.
Alternatively if you'd prefer a hotel, then because Brands Hatch holds motor racing events as well as skating (who'd've thought?), places to stay tend to get booked up well in advance, so it's best to plan early.
The Royal Oak hotel at Sevenoaks http://www.brook-hotels.co.uk/royaloak_hotel.html has twin rooms available at £77 at the moment if ordered through the web.
The nearby Hilltop hotel with it's quaint decor, but reasonable single room prices:
http://www.hilltophotel.co.uk/index.htm
The Holiday Inn at Maidsone (0870 400 9054) offers twin rooms around the £100 mark (ask for an executive twin and say that you'd called earlier and were quoted this price).
Other accommodation can be sought through either the Brands Hatch track listing:
http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/brand ... -hatch.asp
or through the British Touring Car listing (which lists hotel distances from Brands Hatch):
http://www.btccpages.com/circuits/brands_acc.php

[2005] AdrenalinX UK Championship - Brands Hatch, Sept 3-4
AdrenalinX UK Championship
Brands Hatch
3 – 4th September
I now have provisional agreement that the UK Championship will be held at Brands Hatch on 3rd – 4th September. All I am waiting for now is the final confirmation with the cost detailed and what requirements the track will need from us. I am also waiting to see if we can use the whole track when the cars stop running which will mean a greater potential for downhill racing.
We will be allowed to camp at the track and I would recommend as many as possible do this because then we can drink and still start early Sunday.
There will be a party Saturday night and a showing of Rollin Through the Decades film in the Adrenalin X showroom.
Proposed schedule
Saturday 3rd
Slalom
9.00 am registration in Adrenalin X showroom
after this you can move to South Bank Car Park.
9.30 track opens, practice begins all courses.
10.30 GS starts on the curved track
12.00 pm Qualifying for H2H
1.00 pm Hybrid H2H on straight hill
8.00 pm we can run a super tight H2H near Adrenalin X showroom
Downhill and Gravity bikes
All day – free ride and set-up where downhill event will be. You know what you normally do and that will be possible. There are a few options:
1 Druids – (reverse direction to cars) shortish very steep very fast, good for pure speed racing
2 Druids – (direction to cars) slightly longer, very steep very fast, corner at the bottom
3 Back straight to Graham hill corner – long, starts steep probably about half a mile long, does have some challenging curves, not sliding.
4 Back straight to Graham hill corner but starting from where we start the slalom– long, starts very steep hill with corner that may need sliding, probably about a little shorter than (3)
Off road event
If anyone wants an off road mountain board event we hope to confirm the Rally circuit which will be available and has a steep rough hill. Might be interesting. There will be some mountain bikes using it and this could be shared. There are loads of slopes around the track but please do not damage it cosmetically.
Evening
Prizes in Adrenalin X showroom
Party in Kentagon Bar and film show. Late night party in tents.
Sunday 4th finish 4.30pm
Slalom
Repeat of Saturday new courses.
All others free ride.
Other possibilities
We should be able to use a lot of land so kite flying and other events are possible. We would like to build this event up so please come a long and see what you can add for a bigger and better event next year.
I hope this makes sense. Contact me if you want to do anything or can help.

Evening

Sunday 4th finish 4.30pm

All others free ride.
Other possibilities
We should be able to use a lot of land so kite flying and other events are possible. We would like to build this event up so please come a long and see what you can add for a bigger and better event next year.
I hope this makes sense. Contact me if you want to do anything or can help.
