Not far from the Hull ferry terminal, so possible for mainland Europeans to come over by boat....
to be confrimed.
Here is the Hill for slalom. Other hills for sliding , downhill, soapbox and luge.
This year it was sunny, dry and a BRILLIANT day!!!! More details soon.

On googlemap.
When we looked into this this year I think It was possible to get an overnight ferry on the Saturday/Sunday from Hook Van Holland and return on an evening ferry Sunday night. Yes its a long way, and weather is unpredictable....BUT with a downhill event, sliding and a cafe on the day it still may be worth the trip. We had a great time this year. Also ther will probably be free camping if you want to be brave.
Cadwell is hard to get to by public transport. But th ehill and surface are probably the best in the world.

Some ferries from Bruges are going to Hull. It's quite far form Paris but we could think about it.

If you book the ferry through ferrysavers.com or similar the rpice comes down...never buy direct! Also it would be aorth hiring a minibus as its vehicles which cost....passengers are cheap as they want your moeny in the bar!
We will be wanting to fly each nations flag at the event. So could the 'frogs' and 'krauts' please bring white sheets?

We WILL have decent ramps with the sme dimensions as the Swiss Airflows. They will be made from metal scaffolding, and the 'S' will be made from square steel tube. The dimesions will be the same as the Airflow......but STRONGER, with round poles to pull against.
Timing.
Please my recent threads on Timing on this forum. We have a natty system ideal for qualifying, onsisting of nice LCD display:
We may have TWO screend by February, but in any case we have a trackmate system. We will configure it for DUAL START, SPERATE FINISH...not the crappy 'go whenyou like system..@
We have a new system thatt will tell us who crosses the line first, if we run a race where we say 3 cones OK,any more, DQ..... This format makes for east races, and more of them.
Next We have redundant systems, ie tapeswitches AND Optical gates. And spare wires. This will hopefuly make for reliable timing.
We have recorded RAMDOM beep starts, which realyl cuts down on False starts.
What else...well my concern was weather,BUT MArtin Drayton has persuaded me that the only thing we have no control of is weather, if we get everything else right then we tried our best.
Sadly we only have the hill for one day, so can we still apply for 'MAIN'....?
And as soon as the date is confirmed we will.

I have asked for the date to be confirmed as soon as possible. We just need the organsier of the whole event at Cadwell to confirm the day. I hope to be able to do everything, including applying for point status within the two month time frame, and hopefully before!!!!!
Mind you ferry ticket in February or Flights are gonna be cheap even late booking.

february this year gave us one of the best days racing we had at Cadwell.it was cold at first but dry.
Summer gave us many rainy days.
I cant guarentee the weather, but as we know it always rains in Paris....
Ramon, I want to research ALL the best transport options for racers and they will be posted as soon as I get an answer on points.....otherwise I'll be doing a ton of work for a race that willnot have many people travelling to it.
But..to answer your question Cadwell, the nearest airport is Humberside, with cheap flights to Innsbruck and Amsterdam, its 45 km away. East Midlands airport is 130km away with many more flights including Cologne, Geneva, Berlin, Salzburg and more...Stansted Airport, to the north of London is 200km away and has many cheaper flights by RyanAir,Easy jet and others.
One way to get there is to go via the ferry from Hook of Holland.
Most racers willbe coming from London, so perhaps a daythere before muight be good.
At the last race the closest anyone lived was 60 miles away.

Good, a race near me!
What are the details of the event? Are you using the timing system in the phot? I heard that it had problems at Hyde Park, will it be okay here up North?
I also read about your Outlaw race on NCDSA, is that worth coming down for and when is it. I fancy me chances against you old middle-aged portly Southern shandy drinkers

No problems with the timer whatsover! Not for the race anyhow. There were problems with the remote gates usedby Sam on his system I think. Mine is hardwired.
There can be an issue with most IR gates with sunshine or interference....(Nialls very powerful auto focusing camera did interfere with the gate).
Thats why I have pressure switches as well! With backups.
Its all sorted out and working absolutely fine.
The gauntlet will be laid down so to speak shortly.....that be on NCDSA.

Ok its OFFICIALLY a 'Prime' thank you!
Also, as well as Pavel we have Seismic and 'Go Fast' sports drinks on board to give drinks and stuff to racers.
More stuff and news to come. Sign up will be on NCDSA shortly, hopefully in 7 days. And entry price will be low. Competitors who bring family/friends will all get free entry on the gate, so your supporters can see the other events happening on the day for free. The general public are being charge an entry fee.
Competitors will be required to wear a helmet at all times on the track.

Sam G. posted some infos on NCDSA on 24.10. :

Cadwell is located on the edge of Nowhere and the North Sea. Upshot is that best approach is probably by car: Cadwell directions or by Standard Viking technique.
Although there are airports nearby (Humberside/ Doncaster/ Leeds) the most cost effective International approach will be to fly to Stansted on Saturday and drive from there.
At the moment there are some very good deals from Air Berlin.com and Lufthansa fly there also.
Heathrow is bloody miles away, but could be a last minute consideration if you get friendly with a pilot. Get the ferry if you prefer sailors: P&O Ferries. Rotterdam to Hull has a certain ring to it for 'Triangle' fans.

Some initial rules are now posted on the website:
http://octanesport.co.uk/cadwell.html
These will be added/amended as needed.
You can download our start beeps so you can get used to the cadence. These generate a random 5 second beep window when combined with an MP3 player.

hum not so easy to come.
so perhaps a few days in UK instead of expensive quick travel?
I was wondering : is there also a downhill event on the day before? or the same day?
Could we have informations about that too?

The downhill event is more like a few runs on the hill at intervals, not a true downhill and not a very technical hill either. try UKGSA.org for more details on that event.
Sorry Fred, but there is no train station near Cadwell and public transport is awful.
try posting on the UK forum of NCDSA for a ride, some skaters will be going from London on Saturday, return Sunday evening. or try and hook up with someone on a car rental cost from Stansted airport?
Michael
