Flavio,

To start with, thanks for a great weekend!

Secondly, you mentioned yesterday that video of the competition would come available on-line, can you say anything with regard to the timing (when can we expect it) and the location (Where can we find it) of this video?

Martijn

Hi there,

I apologize for the late post but after getting home at 23:45 last night after the contest and waking up at 6 AM this morning to go to my regular job for a series of meetings during which I had no access to a PC I finally find sometime to:

First of all thank everybody that came to Amsterdam to compete and to help us organizing this event. Donald did a great job on the mike. The GOG crew took care of the course very well. Shame we had minor problems with the timing system.

I also think that it is better to bear the burden of organizing AND running the event myself next time. I do think this way I can prevent misunderstandings that up to this moment were not made clear to me.

But DONALD THANK YOU!!! I could not have do it withou you guys help.

I could not have done it without these guys help neither:

Wouter van der Hamburg, thank you for using your days off and time after work to put this contest together

Cyrril Schardijn: Same as above and time out of his holidays.

John Deurholt for the website and promotion

The support of the city of Amterdam

The sponsors: Hardcore Supplies RULLED. Pavel, GOG, The city of Amsterdam, Stroom Vormgeven and Vans.

I wish I could have forseen a few problems with more antecipation, however I must say my vieuw of slalom skateboarding has changed. I see it better now, I think I needed to put my glasses on. :-)

The contest will happen next year again, that is a sure thing.

Congratulation to all the winners.

Now it is time for me to go to bed and try to sleep, tomorrow it is another working day.

Oh yes....before I forget

I also want to thank my wife Margareth and my niece Aline for staying up until late on Saturday and Friday making 480 sandwiches. You are very brave. THANKS!

See you all next year.

You are so picky one second this way of that way, does it matter? ;-)

Its the DQ's that have been the problem, the women hybrid finals are now updated and the pros didn't have any DQs so they should be fine. Thanks for letting me know!

The site is updated with the pro elims from round of 4. Also a small error that mixed up the heats in round of 16 for the ams hybrid is fixed so hopefully all should be ok by now.

Thank you Donald for the quick update - the hardest working man in slalom today!

It is beautifull evening in Amsterdam, bright moon in the sky. Don and his crew were working hard until late to prepare the courses.

Many riders are camping.

There is a HA and a Dirk van der Broek ten minutes away from the contest site.

Chocomel rules :-)

The weather is good. T-shirts on. Very light wind.

Oliver Otten is on the list and the others are out.

I will be at the location from around 5 PM on.

I wish you all a safe trip to Amsterdam

Hardly likely. But I will enjoy the Chocomelk.

Last time I went to Amsterdam the streets were flooded. Same happened in Venice I must be some kind of jinx.

Anyway, as I used to live in Holland it wll be nice to come back, via Bruxelles, so safe trips everyone,...

Success! as the Dutch say.

I hope there is an Albert Heijn nearby as I have to bring some goodies back home for the the folks, stroopwaffles & hagel mostly!

Team GB are staying at The Bastion.

Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Please all of you try to be at the location at 8 AM on Saturday morning. We will start registration at that time.

We want to start at 10 AM

Also, around 2 PM on Saturday, Dutch national television RTL will be at the contest, filming and possibly interviewing some of you. We will be on the news (broadcasted to the whole country) on Saturday evening.

Weather: Good, forcast for tomorrow and Saturday is for dry weather. Sunday is also not looking bad, there is a 30% chance of rain only.

Michael Stride has just joined the riders list.

The lastest weather report from Amsterdam:

Saturday: A 20% chance of rain, wind force 3, average temperature: 22 C

Sunday: A 30% chance of rain, wind force 3, average temperature 24 C

This is good.

and it is dry at this moment as well we could have been skating since the early hours in the morning.

The plan B location:

http://www.skateparkamsterdam.nl/

If it rains we will go to Everland Skatepark on north side of Amsterdam. We will have single course races, flat but decente.

So no worries about the weather, we can race anyways.

However I must add that the weather continues to improve !!!!

I have just been outside skating ...

more updates tomorrow morning

hey don´t forget we have a camping site. Let´s use it, many riders are staying there and I do think it is a good place to hang out.
There are two super markets very close to the location as well.

We are ready to go:

The course will be set up on the competition day. Fresh made. All riders will have two practise runs and that is it. This way everybody will have the same chance.

Donald will be setting up the courses early on Saturday morning. So you can expect the usual GOG style technical courses .

We are all going to be there on Friday evening. I will be at the location from about 5 PM on.
If you come on Friday eve you can also register at that time. That would save us time on Saturday morning.

You are allowed to camp from Friday eve on.

How is the weather?
Presently it is not really good it rains then it stops and then is mostly blue skies at the end of the day, but from tomorrow on things are improving. I will keep everybody posted. It doesn´t look bad for the weekend.

What if it rains?
Plan B will be used. That is moving the whole set up to the Amsterdam Skatepark in the north of Amsterdam. It is flat, sorry. This is just in case of RAIN. Better flat then nothing.

Flavio, what is your phone number?

My mobile number is:

+31 6 42 50 97 80, it will be on all the time.

I wish all of you a good trip to Amsterdam.

You are all VERY WELCOME to the City.

Size M, L... XL ? :)
Call it a M.
Remember you can (you are not obliged though) use the big ramp to start. I figure the exit speed at the bottom of the ramp is ± 28 Km/h.

Very smooth asphalt.

Pitch?
I don´t know. In my whole life as a skateboarder I always measured the terrein in the following way:

Pools had a little vert, some vert or a lot of vert.
Hills were: Mellow, Ok or steep.
This one is OK. It is steeper than the Trocadero. The run away goes on forever, so you don´t have to worry about your shoes :-)

The course length will be about 220-250 meters.

IMPORTANT!!!
All riders willing to use the Big Ramp will be asked to sign a weaver freeing the contest organizers and the ramp builders from any responsability in case of an acident while riding it.
And again I say there is more than enough room to push pedal your way into the GS course.
