Re: Grenoble 2012, August 24-25-26 [Main]
First, i want to thanks all racer who show up and support this event : I hope you all enjoy your racing here in Grenoble.
It was a great event for me and i had so much fun watching those race from the timing table again, even if it doesnt allow me to race at 100% and even if I give some DNA to the GS track on friday :D
Also a big thank to Marco, Vincent and Vincent who helped me at the timing table.
ok a short debrief now, before i take some sleep...
What was good :
- we have a really high level top 8 racers and a consistent top 16
- Day 1 and 2 were hot and sunny; Day 3 was a perfect weather : even if we have a big storm on day 2, we manage to finish all our races (3 official races + Nation Cup)
- GS was really fast. Best racers were flashed at the bottom near 60km/h.
- Nation Cup was a blast : we use a "no cone penalty" format (DQ was set at 5 cones down) and the audience really appreciate... it goes fast, no cone counting... and it is clear... Most of the time, as a speaker, i even do not need to watch the chrono to announce the winner. Nation Cup format is really a good format to show our sport !
- we use on day 3 the random beep system for qualifications : it works and i will for sure use it for all my next races!
What to improve:
- 28 racers is not enough for a main event, with a high organisation level; we need to understand why we can't get more
- we did a big mistake on Day 3 : our computer crashed just before finals, and i realised that that we did not save anything since top 8. Fortunatly, we did know all results but we loosed all official times for 2 complete final rounds (on day 2, we used to write cones counting and time on a paper as a backup, but unfortunatly we did not make it again on Day 3 as we only write down cone counts)... I will remember Dom's advice : "Save every move"
- we will use DQ as a false start rule for all our next events
- screen for racers was missing on Day2 morning
I am really open to any feedback from racers on how to improve, even if i'm sure most (hope ALL) of you had a lot of fun this weekend
SEE YOU ALL IN MALLORCA NOW !!!!!!!

The rule should be DQ when using random 4th beep

Re: Grenoble 2012, August 24-25-26 [Main]
as i am on a PC without Excell, i can not post results from Day 3 Special Slalom (Gesmer sheets does not work on OpenOffice), but i can give you Overall results or the Week end
all i can say is Dom do win the special race, using an incredible strategy : i think we will debate about that and maybe we will have to change/improve ISSA rules.
He was against Viking in the final, and Viking did have an advance of 0.2 after the first run; rule for this race was 3X false start penalty, and we were forced to put tapeswitches on the front wheel (ramp was wet in the morning and duck tape was not sticking on the platform...)
So Dom start his 2nd run before the fourth beep, lifting his front wheels, and take a false start of 0.038. Viking was surprised and get a (not so) bad reaction around 0.5... but Dom was already far in the race...
Feedback about all of this from racers is that we must consider using DQ rule for false start
Anyway, it was a perfect weekend, i will post a complete summary tonight, with special race results

Re: Grenoble 2012, August 24-25-26 [Main]
It was a really hot day with a lot of nice racing on a mirrored tight slalom.
A big storm force us to pause the Nation Cup around 5PM
We will try to finish tomorrow with semi finals : Sweden VS France and Germany VS Latvia

ok here is plan for Nation Cup on saturday evening (night race)
we will start around 19h, with 8 teams
teams will be composed by the best 2 riders of each country (results from the race day)
if needed, we will go down the list to make #2 teams
for now we have :
SWEDEN 1
ITALIA 1
SPAIN 1
GERMANY 1
FRANCE 1
RUSSIA 1
so there is still 2 rooms for new countries or #2 teams...
Rules:
Best ranked riders in each team will start the round;
Best ranked riders in the round choose his lane on the first run
First team to get 3 wins advance to the next round (so that's max 5 runs per round)
Shedule:
Plan is to start between 19h00 & 20h00; finish around 22h30
8 teams will be 35 runs maxi !

[2012] Désaxé Grenoble, August 24-25-26 [Main]
Philippe Galindo has requested me to make this pre-announcement for Grenoble 2012.
The date will be later in the summer, on August 24-25-26.
The giant slalom will be held on 08-24, at the same location as 2011... So be ready for a gnarly giant, probably the fastest of the season!
Tight and special will be held on 08-25 & 08-26 at the stadium as in previous years.
Most of you now know what they can expect for this event.
The french crew will help him with race direction and be sure we will learn from this year mistakes : expect for a backup computer and a good schedule including 3 races + a Nation Cup (no dead time like this year!)

There will be a concert on the race place like last year and always all infrastructure is providing (food, sound and all other event around us).
We can also expect more audience because it will be the weekend just before school start up...
Philippe was firstly asking for a Main status, but seeing no organizer apply for Euro's or World's yet... i suggest him to put some concurrence in it :D
So we will again this year ask for Euro's Status as we prove last year we can help such an event!
If we do not get it, we are of course expecting to get a Main.
More infos about schedule, prizes, etc etc will come early next year!
