History of Majors in Europe:
2003 - Antibes (Euro Championships)
2004 - Cologne (Euro Championships)
2005 - Paris
2006 - Brixlegg (World Championships)
My understanding was that the Major status should be given to the event that is expected to draw the most attendants and be of the highest standing. That's the obvious logic. The only negative point I see for Paris is that French skaters would have an advantage of several Mains in their country.
That is the general Statement of the discussion last year. And there is a Statement from the Status Marshalls.
Euros are not combined with a Major status.
There is the same scenario in the USA. US NATIONALS in Morro Bay (Prime Status).
Riga had the same in 2005, like Grenoble in 2007.
Grenoble will be for sure the place to go in September. And with the "spreading over the season" rule in a good position to get one of the MAIN statuses. But not the Euro Title again.

Why the Czech ?
- They are ready
- Application is in
- Good level of competitors last year
- They didn't hold the euros for years
- The Euros will give them the MAIN-Status for sure
- It's a geographical change from West-Europe to East-Europe
The question is, do they want to host it ? If not, Dete is right that Hannover is the place for 2008.

Thanks for your trust.
We are ready and want to organize MAIN status for Polička Slalom World Cup this year.
Polička is a small town but we have a great support from local people who like skateboarding.
In case we will get the MAIN status for it, you will be experienced with good Czech organization and then if you would be satisfied, we can stand as a candidate for Euro next year 2009 when we can also get even better support from our sponsors.

The MAJOR contest in Europe this year is the World Championships. You only get one MAJOR....
so.... France didn't hold the Euros since 2003

In 2007, Hannover get Major points... in the same time... Grenoble was Euro Champ and was a Main!
Can someone explain me that point?

Sarstedt and Hannover

Hey David,
the reasons why we want to race in Sarstedt are clear. As you say. The giant slope is excellent and competitive. Sarstedt is a small village at the periphery of Hannover.
I think, i don´t have to talk about Hannover. We host the world cahmpionship in football in 2006, the world expo in 2000 and we have the biggest fairground in the world with the biggest fair (cebit - 800.000 visitors) in the world.
But when we organise a slalom race in Hannover, just a few people will notice
(remember 2006) we moved to sarstedt, because they love skateboarding. The whole village is behind the sport (remember the price giving last year and the exciting finals)
I think these excitement is the best for our sport. Now this year we got a second slope to race and the officials of sarstedt are behind our plans. The new blood competition is good for our plans to promote the slalom sport. And.... Sarstedt is 10 minutes by car to hannover. The airport is 20 minutes by car. There is a connection by subway to sarstedt in the same time.
Cheap hotels around and we can offer free entrance for two skatehalls in hannover.
i don´t have to host the euros, but i think we are the right place for this year.
Thank you for your opinion David.

Ok then, how about Cologne 2004 in the forrest? Or Stockholm 2005? That wasn't in the centre of the city either. But I got your point. What would you suggest otherwise?

I agree, but the race site is a bit outlying for the Euro..

I think the race track is exellent with that crazy giant, but to my mind, a much bigger city is better for euro champ....

After an exciting first year with our new Giant Course in Sarstedt (15 % Pitch !!!) we are proud to announce the fourth issue of the Hannover Slalom World Cup.
Date is the weekend 21.& 22. June 2008. We candidate for a main status because we have an excellent race side, lots of spectators, the best starting ramp and the race organisation works very well. We love slalom skateboarding.
After a major status last year, we are ready to ask for the european championship this year. I ask all the skaters who compete here in Hannover, Sarstedt last year, what they think about these plans. Do you want the euros 2008 in Hannover?
Please let me know. We are ready.
