Ok... I officiallly declare that Riderz is not participating to the slalom race websites contest ;)
What informations do you need guys?

LOOK AT THE EVENT SCHEDULE HERE:
http://event.riderz.net/pswc2005/eng/programme.php?id=8

SPECIAL SLALOM = hybrid parallel slalom
TIGHT SLALOM = straight slalom

Schedule of the Slide Contest is indicative (it's a one thing that the rain can't stop so it can begin as soon as we cannot do something else because of the weather!! but this year we didn't order rain).

An update of the website will be done very soon (perhaps in a few hours. Before the end of the week for sure)
RIDERZ organize two downhill races far away from Paris in March and April. And at the same time we are working on the PSWC. We also had a few problems with our new server. So there's a lot to do and the website wasn't the top priority... sorry.

Why GS on saturday and straight on monday? And why is last years list of riders on the website? And isn't it time to open the registration soon? Why o why?

As pro you do not have to worry about numerus closus or whatever, you could sign in right before the races.
it's a bit cheaper though if you do it before, if i remember.
The schedule is indicative: it can be modified if there is risks of rain. The slide contest would start immediately if the tracks are wet.

so the people in paris are unable to create an english version of their site.
is that what it seems to be?
we're working really hard on it (just a reminder last year we didn't have it ready either by that time and the competition went really smoothly). i'd like you to remember we all have full time jobs and we're doing this on our free time. we're all downhill racers as well and the season starts early this year so it's a bit tough to fit everything in our schedule. the website is not the most important thing we have to figure out, there are a LOT of things to be taken into account in order to succesfully put up an event in front of the eiffel tower (we're doing a lot of talking with officials to get this accepted every year).

thanks for your patience and please relax. the registration will be up shortly and don't worry there'll be room for everyone.

I too was expecting the schedule to be the same as last year with the Tight on Saturday and the GS on Monday. I think opening up with the tight is a great warm up as everyone knows exactly what that course is (40 cones @ 2 M). I hope you change back to Tight on Saturday and GS on Monday. Just an opinion. Thanks

The GS first will be fine, as it takes less out of you and lets you warm up to your equiptment. Its Tito time Bobby. Can I bum some shampoo when we get there? I will bring along some snacks for the flight and trip.

As you want

If most of the racers perfer to begin with Tight Slalom on Saturday and finish with GS on Monday.. we can do it!

If you want to vote, I set-up a poll, just to know:

The online subscriptions page has been updated first in french, this is not very logical... However it should be possible to fill the form with no notion of french at all "nom" means name, prénom means "first name", ...

All Riderz dynamic webpages are down :(
It's a curse!
We ever had problems problem last month (many pirates attacks). So perhaps it's one more again.
I hope the team will have time to fix that quickly.
Really sorry.

But don't worry, if you come from far away it will ever be possible to register at the beginning of the competition.

What you've got to know
The PSWC 2005 packs include :
- the regstration to the three slalom races (Tight+Special+Giant) ,
- registration to the slide contest
- 3 meals
- a t-shirt
Prices:
--> Amateurs: 50 €
--> Pros: 110 €
At least 75% of the pro participation will be redistributed to the racers: prize money for the 8 first racers of each race.
Amateurs can also register only for the race they want to if they don't want the complete pack.

That is 770 Euro for one race

This year you can expact more. there are a lot of americans who will enter the competition who weren't there last year.

you can expact ca.:

Can I register directly on the event?

Posted: Mon Apr 11, 2005 8:26 pm

Yes Mathias, if you see the schedule you will notice there is time for that every morning,... but is there a numerus closus in amateur men category, that is a question i haven't found an answer to.
(obviously unnecessary in pro class)

if i was in charge of the PSWC, i guess i would set one.
Maybe i would not make publicity on that before the online subscription is actually working ;)

...and some memories from last year:

Image

The World Cup of slalom skateboarding took place at Trocadero (Paris) on the mythical spot from the 80's. Steve Olson, the old, not the the young one sponsored by Shortys was there. No surprise, he's the editor of a pool magazine! There were also the international champions of this category as well as the brothers Chaboud and Jonathan Monie who signed up and raced on boards from the old days (Jon can do just about anything on his orange Variflex. That was skateboarding before street... and it's still fun!

Thanks a lot Jani.
This year, Sport +, a cable television channel will cover the event.
There are two possibilities:
1) there will be a professional crew from the telly
2) there will be a Riderz team video filming the event if they don’t send their own crew

The report will be broadcast one week/10 days after the competition.
If the report is interesting, it might be broadcast by Canal +, a national and important channel in France.

What is very interesting:
They want to broadcast the report and comment it as professionals, like a football (soccer) match in France (what a shame football is so popular).
I think it’s a great opportunity for slalom competition.
The French journalist Fabrice Lecuyer is really fond of skateboarding and will send a crew if he can, he wants slalom skateboarding to be recognised as a real sport (like football…)

See you in Paris

Just a reminder that you can sign up online (will speed things up) in ENGLISH http://event.riderz.net/pswc2005/eng/in ... s.php?id=7

And you can catch a glimpse of some of the juicy prizes you might take home on our sponsors page http://event.riderz.net/pswc2005/eng/pa ... hp?t=71555

The schedule is also finalized http://event.riderz.net/pswc2005/eng/programme.php?id=8
(I haven't got round to translating it yet but it's not complicated to understand and I'm sure most of you will be able to figure it out.)

I will be on site at the PSWC in the "international" tent if you have any problems to sort out and you have difficulties with French.

If it does rain is it worth anything to get an alternative location and do a race anyway?

It's too late to organize an official race indoors such as in a parking space, but maybe we can do an outlaw thing. I know a fairly good parking lot at a shopping centre, outside of Paris, which is closed on Sundays that we might want to try.

But, being off site, is not a good thing should the weather turn to the better during the day. Maybe it's too risky to even think of something different.

Normally it doesn't rain for hours and hours in Paris. Maybe we should just concentrate on methods to dry the surface once it stops raining.

(These are just my personal thoughts, not those of the organizing committee.)
