giant slalom

Post by Detlef Rehbock » Thu Apr 13, 2006 1:06 pm

there is only one road where we can do a real giant and it´s a big problem to get this road. but we work on it. there is another road, but not that steep. this one is possible too. no problem to get this road, but a little bit boring, or some one is a genius in setting the course there. maybe, we will a allow motorskateboards on this course.

The roads near the Dutch pavillon are not steep enough for GS.
Last year's road for GS could work also on the half of its full length. The small road coming from the right side could work as runout.

I am trying to get a flight to Hannover, but they are expensive because of the Soccer World cup.

1. Is there a another airport nearby to check?

2. Will there be a race on the Friday? Or is it Saturday and Sunday only?
http://www.skateboardworldcup.com/ says it is 3-5 June

3. The link on accomm goes to the hotel. Is there a special rate organised for racers?
Do we have to call direct?

Hope to see a lot of you there!!!! cheers, Paul Price, back in London

there are airports in cologne and düsseldorf, paul.why try to go to hannover directly?
your whole german team is located at those two airports.
you know that you surely get a lift and a sleeping place here.
so why bother to ask for a flight to hannover?
eh?

the worlds

Post by Detlef Rehbock » Tue May 09, 2006 2:45 pm

don´t worry. it´s normal. i was in morro bay two years ago. the only german slalomer. and i´m not the best one. so be happy that we have the worlds in europe this year.
everybody is welcome. they decide by there own.
for the future i hope that the world championship in slalom skateboarding will switch between europe an america.
and hopefully for teh ranking there will be an extra status that attract racer to move there ass.
i mean asses from all over the world.
and ...... we need a guideline for organizers, so it´s for sure that a world championship is a big event in evry case. spectators, prize money, race organisation, race courses etc.

back to hannover. we can do a skimboard gs. a good idea with the pavel foam skimboards.
hey donald you can use the shape of my board. it´s a sandy beach board from hawaii and it´s fast.

you wrote:

What is the name of the contact at the hotel, and their telephone number.

When we call the hotel they say they know nothing about the skateboarding race and discount.

What is the special rate? The standard rate seems to be 39 euro. Thanks and see ya! Paul

if 39.- euro is the rate for that hotel, it seems to be cheap for a hotel like that.
i try to contact the manager and ask, why nobody knows about our agreement for the racers. but, 39.- is cheap. if you want to try it cheaper, use the internet portal
www.hrs.de and search for hotels in hannover. if you book in the center it´s 10 minutes by subway to the expo area.
o.k. i try to actualize the website. the only problem is the money.

o.k. i called the hotel. please talk to nicole höner for your special rate.
i think normally you get the room for 45.-
sorry, but i talked with them and asked for a better rate.
i think you get the room for 39.-
it´s a good hotel and i think the price is o.k.
otherwise check www.hrs.de for cheaper hotels

and don´t forget your skimboards. i hear that donald will shape some competition boards.
for more information ask donald.

latest information

Post by Detlef Rehbock » Tue May 30, 2006 10:25 am

sorry this is the last time i can answer. we have a lot to do in the netx days.
everything is prepared, to host the second hannover world cup.
this year was a little confused. for a long time we didn´t know whats going on, because the expo revival was cancelled but.....
we find a new location for this year. the maschsee strandbad (rudolf v. bennigsen ufer)

time schedule

friday: 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. training and registration
saturday: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. registration
we start the contest at 10 a.m. with tight ams and women, then pro (first quali, then final)
after that we have a 1 hour break
price cermony tight slalom
then we start with the qualification special slalom
7 p.m. beachparty and skimboardcontest
9 p.m. clubparty at the red light district or pool party in the campo arena

sunday: we try to realize a giant slalom at the expo area. we don´t have a permission for that, but ......, we are skaters. so we try it.
giant starts at 9 a.m. everybody had two runs, best run counts

12:30 p.m. we continue the special slalom at the maschsee strandbad
around 6 p.m. we have the last prize ceremony

what you get for your money:

world cup t-shirt
food
drinks
free entry in the campo arena
free entry in the maschsee strandbad

so, hope to see you all in hannover

If the weathergods mess this up....the Campo arena is a good alternative. I don't want to sound too pessimistic, but these days the weather is 'not stable' at all...go figure.
So bring your ramp decks as well....look here http://www.campo-arena.de/

Good to hear that Donald will bring some start ramps, so let's get going!

Seems the weather's looking better than last year: http://weather.boston.com/?code=EDN0. Blimmin' good!

On a different note, the 'How To Get To' section on Dete's site has yet to be started, so I need a bit of help on the ol' guidance front.

Is it possible to get to the Hannover Messe Hotel using public transport? I can get to either of the Messe Stations (Nord & Ost) on the Stadtbahn, after that the trail goes a little cold. Is it far to walk from either of these?

Similarly, once arriving at the Messe Hotel, is it easy to get to the race site using public transport from there? And does anyone have an accurate location as to where the Maschsee Strandbad might be? It sounds like the sort of place where MEN hang out in leopardskin Speedos. Might pack mine.

Or, is it easier to hire a small car because of the many varied locations?

Thanks in advance for the directions,

Sam
