Training, Oh Yeah!
Oh yeah, Thanks for the shot Fred. Dominic thanks for improving the looks, EH!
Training yesterday included staying awake for a long period then some coaching at the troca. What a great place for a party. Last actual training was Texas. Time before that North Carolina. So when I get my a$$ kicked we'll know why.
MB and I did get some well needed sleep and we're ready. We've had a tough stresstfull time this year with the whole sk8park thing. Last year was tough but less stressful.
Even better when the party is an International slalom race. We seem to have free internet from some nearby provider,
Safe travels see you all soon.

Flavio, yes don't forget your cash to pay saturday morning.

couldn't not even come yeasterday because of little interview yeasterday night
but hey, no training = new challenge during the race
For what I know Jason is coming (I'd like to contact him but I've lost a lot of emails, it would be cool if someone could give me his contacts).
For the others, know that it's perhaps the last PSWC!
I should start to train tooHUYNH BACH SAC Frédéric wrote:First arrived, first served !!! what are you waiting for ? Claude is already training !!!

The Mironenko's are coming!
Stas and Sveta from Ukraine just obtained their tickets to come to Paris!!!
Stas Mironenko was one of Soviet Union's (although we called them all Russians) fastest slalomers back in the days and now he's back again along with his wife Sveta.
It's really great to hear they managed to sort it out and come and see what slalom racing is all about at the Trocadero - in the heart of Paris!
See you all soon! I'm travelling the rest of this week, so I won't be of much help here on the forum (or even via email).
Let the race begin!

Re: Yes!
Yes it's a bit touchy to try that here... we will walk on it, roll on it before startClaude Regnier wrote:Way to go. Yes it is a good idea. Although placement would be critical. Perhaps too for a variety of level racers.
Are you able to leave enough room for those that do not take a full pull and also those that rock the start?
the real start would be behing the front wheels, isn't it a bit strange
A good solutions is the kind of gates they have in Swiss, magnets release the gates on the start...
(please another post to discuss all that!!)

About rockin the board. Yes and no, of course you can roll back and forth some but only the length of your wheelbase without starting the timer. Probably enough for those who need to feel the rythm.
Placement is critical. You would like to have it as far forward as possible, basically the one with the shortest wheelbase will decide the placement. As far as I know the Airflow Jani boards are the ones with the shortest wheelbase and these will still make for 50cm of pull/rocking.
The difference of having the switch at the front hitting it with the front wheels and having it in the middle hitting it with the rear wheels is just a difference of 10-20 cm depending on wheelbase and platform length. My guess is that if you are able to time the beep perfectely you would get 0.03-0.05 seconds early start using this system (based on that the 50 cm wheelbase gives you 0.10-0.20 seconds advantage when lifting the wheels). Actually I could measure this just for fun.
Since we are talking hundreds of seconds or rather 10 cm difference my guess is that your timing of the beep will be more of an issue than the difference where the switch is located. From what I've seen at races most people leave within 0.3-0.5 seconds after the beep, so they would actually make a slightly better start using this.
Also this is probably only useful in the pro category, and since the switch is only duct taped you can move it to the start for the ams. If anyone feel like standing close to the front and roll in very slow, perhaps you should consider moving to the ams.
And Ramón I think you should raise your focus from the front wheels to perhaps the course when the beep goes, or you might as well look at the hooter girls at the sponsor tent
And hey, its just an idea, I'm not part of the organization...

The idea is good but it can be challenging insofar as if you wanna have a small reaction time you don't see where your rear wheels are - you'd have to guess/find out when to go with the beeps...

We tried to put the tapeswitch about 50cm from the back stopper on the startingramp at our session yesterday and it worked like a charm. Perhaps this is a good idea to prevent lifting.

The trigger was never started accidentily, and no starts were missed du to lack of preassure on the back foot.
As a sidenote the platform is 135cm long from stopper to where the transition starts and that feels like more than enough.
Good idea?

That's an issue in Paris.Flavio Badenes wrote:I have a question.
Will there be a place where we can park our cars? Or will we have to park on the streets around Trocadero? I guess that costs money as well, right?
It's forbidden to park on the race site (even where you have seen a kind of car park last years, at the end of the slopes if you ever came).
Only essential vehicles that have a special authorization can be be there for organization needs (we have 4 trucks, 2 emergency ambulance so not much place left).
Even me I won't have a reserved seat for my car!
You can find some spot to park in the area, but it's not so easy and most of them are not free.
Best thing to do is to park your car in your hotel carpark or a quiet area near the place you'll stay and to come with public transportation.

dear charles:
you didn't skate the ramp when you were here last time,so how come you know?
anyway...
i just wanted to offer help,i did not want to start a controversy here.
lots of racers told me they like the idea for the big ramp to be in paris for the gs.
if you guys think it is not suitable for the event then that is your oppinion and it has to be respected.

That's contradictory: The Trocadéro slope is that short that you want to get the speed for GS from the beginning. A smaller ramp gives you less speed one a slope that's already almost too short for GS.Charles_Thubert wrote:The Big ramp is too BIG for Trocadero Giant.
Anyway, we're hoping for Nicolas to grant a road for GS!

you know that baby from the last gog race.this could be some fun then.

we got what you need for that.
everybody will love that.it's good for the spectators,it gives a fast entry into the gs course and it makes the race so much more spectacular.

no no no ramon
bs is big slalom
stop fooling around here
big slalom is done on boards that are approved by santa claus.
85 mm wheels
a short board no longer than 85,345cms
104,798 mm stainless steel trucks
the races are held on slippery surfaces, gymnastic halls are preferred
since you can't really pump on that ground they went for the very big wheels
that fabian guy he beat you recently marcus?
and he's racing am?
ok....
i even know the color of his boxer shorts, but i won't spill all the secrets
my secret agent man from sweden told me

In fact I put 10€ on Peter winning the BS, and another 10€ on Fabian Björnstjerna taking the overall AM by far. In fact I put another 10€ on that more than 5 AMs will complain about Fabian not running PRO. Any takers?
Thanks for the answers Vinz!

Why not a "Le Mans" start? Skaters start (2 by 2) with a run up the hill ("to explore the track") then grab their boards and make the run.Donald Campbell wrote:I'LL HAVE MY REVENGE

hahahahaha
Or they run up the hill WITH their boards; in that case a 34" deck is a disadvantage....

"BS"? meaning "Big Slalom" / GS?
(or what about a biathlon / triathlon, like swimming, slalom skating, biking?

I've missed a few questions from Marcus
so about prize money: this year we'll reward skaters only with combined overall results, probably the 8th first racers (or 10?).
Minimum total amount is 3000€.
We also have a lot of good stuff for AMs!
I'm still waiting for a real meeting about results and calculation with people involved, but I think it should be based on the three disciplines and for what I know it was like that last year.
Wheels lifting: no clear rule exists, what is sure is that we won't have judges to look only at that. It will also depend what we can use at the start (light beam or switch) but it's part of the game for years, so is it a real problem? (it's not the topic to discuss about that, thanks)
We are near of 50 AMs racers, remember that only a payment will confirm your registration.

As far as I know, Dutch skaters usually do not use the terms Straight Slalom / Special Slalom because their abbreviations are both SS.
TS or HS are pretty clear, too.
