2004 European Schedule?

Post by Maria Carrasco » Mon Oct 27, 2003 6:36 pm

Hello all! 2003 is coming to a close -- what a great year! Really enjoyed going to Brands/England and Grun/Switzerland -- can't wait to start planning for 2004.

Have already heard Paris is planned for May 28 - June 1 and want to put together a trip to be there for that. Have had several conversations with some of the planners of these events and hoping to be able to hit more than one event while we are there -- if they are planned close enough together. My ideal (just in case you are wondering) would be start in Brands/England -- next Paris -- then Grun/Switzerland (in the space of 3 weeks) -- sounds like a great adventure!

Planners/Organizers: Please post here with updates as things come together. It would be most appreciated! Thanks.

Hello Maria. I plan to organize Antibes french riviera certainly one week before Paris.
I have to see that with Paris organisation. Not an euro championship, a race open for everybody in the world.
Imagine Grueningen one week after. Great!

Worlds...

Post by Marcus Seyffarth » Thu Nov 20, 2003 3:34 pm

If I have understood things correct there are two world championships being planned for next year, is that correct? First in Italy in june, then in San Diego in september. Will there be like the pro boxing that you get a championship belt as well? :)

Perhaps the Euro comp thread is not the right place for this but I couldn't find any better...

Two Worlds?

Who said that Italy is a world championships? It'll have world level skaters hopefully, but I haven't heard that it was called worlds?

Three, free, Worlds

Post by Jani Soderhall » Thu Nov 20, 2003 11:31 pm

OK, I hadn't seen that (or at least not reacted to it).

It means we now have World Open Championships in Rimini, World Cup in Paris and FCR World Championships in Morro Bay. I guess everybody is free to choose what they like as a title. Hopefully we'll be able to coordinate such things in the future.

Hello Jani

How can we name the race, we plan to organize in Antibes in May.
Can we tell it's a world cup too?

Name for Antibes..

Post by Juergen Kreis » Sun Nov 23, 2003 2:39 pm

Call it European Open...

I think, for the future ... when is giving more than 1 contest in a crounty....
One comp. takes the name of the country with "-Open"....

But competions with "world" can only use for one or you make a series of 4-5 contets...

Several World Cups?

Post by Jani Soderhall » Sun Nov 23, 2003 2:40 pm

For me it is OK to use the name World Cup on several contests. For me World Cup is a series of contests. It's just that we're not organized enough to make a real World series (or maybe we are?). If we add two US events, we could be there. FCR Worlds excluded (IMHO) as it already has its status. How about Breck and an East Coast event? Any big enough? If not another CA event.

But for anyone who intends to such a bold name, remember that you'd better live up to the expectations, or the name looses it's value. (No criticism intended, more an advice to others thinking about doing the same thing).

Pierre, as for not using European Championships. I think that's wise, this year. Here are a few of my reasons to support your decision.

a) We'd better circulate those events. Maybe Cologne this year?
b) They'd better be in the autumn.
c) They should be the biggest, best events for the only-Europeans.

International Skateboard Slalom Association rules for all of these contests would be a good choice. Having one association would be a good way to present a "World Cup Series" and a "World Champion" based on "World Participation." Not to be disrespectful to any former world champions in any way.

I believe that the ISSA rules and organization can only help...

Have a look in the 2004 Contest Calendar. The date seems to be free so far.

Hey guys, are the dates locked down for Paris 2004 yet?

I want to buy a ticket and give it a go, but the trip will cost me $1100 and I don't want the dates to change and leave me flat.

So, if any of you can confirm the dates, I'll be coming over from America.

Don't worry about me being a threat. I'll be 43 at that point and my best finish so far has been 44th out of 77 at the 2001 La Costa Open. I'll be there mainly to have fun, try the GS and TS and hit the parties.

This will be my 3rd trip to Paris and it gives me something to get in shape and practice for.

Let me know if the current situation is a "go".

Thanks - todcar@yahoo.com

Bon Jour

such a deal $799 air and hotel in paris and London.

But you might have to miss a day of either comp.
