Thank's for the "welcome back".

The entry fee last year was 75 Euro for Pros and 100 including T-shirt and meals & water for three days. For Ams it was 30 for all races and 50 including everything.

I'm not sure about the plans for this year. I was one of those who voted for a high entry fee for the Pros last year so that we could have some prize money and pay down to 8:th place in all disciplines. I'm not really involved at this moment, but some of the work & paper work has started for the race. Currently there is a poster contest at www.Riderz.net to come up with proposals for a race poster.

If I'm not mistaken I believe Ramon also will be racing in the under 40 category. Paris is the Gigantic blast off on the European leg, the whole World cup, let´s all be there. I think anyone who misses out on this race will miss the greatest venue for a skateboard contest, I think you guys should try to have the little pond under the tower dry for us to skate. I skated it in 1988. please... I want to relive my childhood.

Well, I've just been given release permision from attending my sister's birthday on the 14th and so am now thinking of things French.

Is there a site for race registration and pre-entry? It would be useful to have these details sorted before travel arrangements are made.

On a different tack, I was in Paris outside the Eiffel Tower for the Entente Cordiale Paris-London Cycle Race about 4 months back and mentioned to a few fellow competitors that the Trocadero is one of the great slalom locations in the world. I added that it looked a little forlorn without cones, inflatables and paper-plated slippery pasta.

Blank looks.

Serious bunch, these cycling types.

Good collection of lycra, however.

Returning to the first tack, it would appear that August seems to be the more furtive month for many skaters' folks.
And that's not one for the statistics, Corky.

Andy, last year I booked transport before the races were announced and found that my arrival time was due to be mid-way through the first race. Luckily the start time was delayed and so there was no difficulty in taking part. The organisers were very helpful in making sure that I was allowed to compete.

There is no website up as yet for Paris 2005, however when ready it will be posted up on http://event.riderz.net/. If you have any queries as regards race times, format, entry fees etc then you can contact direct on info@riderz.net.

My name is Peter Klang and I raced in Paris last year.
I think Paris was the best of 2004. NOW, it's two month
to Paris World Cup 2005 and there is no information on
prize purse, time schedule, registration or anything.
Paris is a MAJOR with the highest ranking points.

Please let all racers know ASAP waz up.

Corky, even I don't have full confidence in me! Being of the English 'string and sellotape' brigade, I put these helpful postings down only in part out of altruism. Mainly they work as grouped information to remind myself. Easier to find, helps all. It's a librarian thang. Now, where are the instructions on how to book a train??!!?

Although I will not be as heavily involved as previous years, I'm still part of the organizing committee this year and I'll help you answer any questions you may have (public or private, just shoot them off).

If there has been any concerns about the race, because of the relatively limited public info so far, I can just let you know that all seems to be going smoothly. Most of the time has been spent on administrational tasks such as getting the authorization through and searching for funding. The good news for Riderz this year is that that there will be public funding from the town and from the various skateboard associations in France (I say various, because slalom is part of downhill, downhilll is part of skateboard and skateboard is part of the French Roller Sport association). The good thing is that there will be a little bit of money from each level in this multi layered organization.

We had some TV coverage last year with 6 stations covering the event (at various degrees of course) and quite a few newspapers too. Soizic is in charge of media contacts and it looks promising also for this year.

Disney Village will help out like last year with the stage and starting ramps. It also happens that the son of the VP there is a sound guru. That he lent his material and his knowledge for a full weekend last year was a great relief. I think all is on track for him to be back.

A poster is under discussion and should appear any day now.

The bar and electricity will be handled by the cataphile friends of Alain (the bald guy) like last year. He's the link between the skaters and the cataphiles of Paris. Cataphiles, you don't know what it is? They're kind of cave explorers, it's just that they explore catacombes and other tunnels under cities rather than natural caves.

I'll make sure we have a timing system (and fully recharged batteries). Probably we'll stay with the TrakMate of last year (used in Paris and Antibes), but I also have plans for a new timer with output capabilities to a PC. (see timer threads for more info on this topic).

Now the only remaining question is should I participate at this years race?

I don't have the latest inside information, but it may be that the online registration is a bit late. It was planned for release last week.

It's 2 m center to center. Sounds like a lot, but towards the end of the course it's just what's needed.

The Am course 2003 was 2.50, last year 2.40m, this year we might go down to 2.30 as some Ams wanted it tighter.

Me again damn, I know I’m a pain in the ass, but is there anyone of you locals whom can give information on the courses and the schedule. I think six weeks befor all riders should know what to expect..

Please give us this information ASAP.
- Courses
- Schedule
- ENGLISH SPEAKING ANNOUNCER (all riders MUST get information in English right after his/her run.
- How, when and where will times, heat draws be posted?

- parallel tight slalom (cente2center: PRO 2m , AM: probably 2.30m)
- parallel special slalom

- like last years, we hope oldtimers will go for a Freestyle demo
- more demos and shows
- and roller races, it's a Roller World Cup too

PSWC is a Slalom World Cup
in extenso: an international race with most of the best racers in the world
Paris was candidate to welcome the Worlds but some objections were made (mainly because the GS spot this year can't be something else than the Trocadero slope an it seems to be too short to host the World Champ GS )

So Morro Bay will be the Worlds again...

There is a translaton mistake in the english document, sorry. For people not following organisation discussions there's not much difference betwen a World Cup and a World Champ' but it's confusing for sure.
We'll try to correct that even if it's a bit late for most of you.

There is a lot of diplomacy as americans have a strong owning feeling for the sport, as Morro Bay existed before, and as it ends the season. However Morro bay is not a very big event, and it does host only a few foreign racers.

There wasn't support for Paris, because of some stupid people (sorry for the words) can't make some compromisses or wouldn't make some compromisses !!!

What i know is that some of the best riders from Europe wouldn't show up in Morro.

It's bed for the sport when there is a World Championschip with only 50 % of the World's best rider's !

Well, good news my brothers and sisters. I just spoke to Jani, and as the acting president of ISSA he said they had a phone meeting last night where they decided on some changes in the 2005 race statuses. Paris will be the European Championships 2005. Got me pissed off till Jani calmed me down and told me Stockholm would be the host for the World Championships 2005. Gruningen will be the East European Championships, and Hanover the the German Championships, Antibes will be the French and Morro will be state Championships with only Cyber courses (25 cones and 40 cones). The Farm will be the U.S Championships and Brands hatch will be the Commonwealth games.

I hope this sort out all your question for the season, oh, Texas Eddie will be setting all courses for all world cup races 2005. Have a great 2005 and see you all in Paris at the euros.

I called to confirm your changes and was glad to hear that you were bang on. You are very good at taking notes, my friend.

I was talking to Mark at Radikal and we are bringing those ICE Blades from the 70's. In February of 2006 Ottawa will host the First Annual WORLD RADIKAL ICE BLADES FLATLAND SLALOM CHAMPIONSHIPS.

It will be great. We will make it part of our Annual Winterlude event on the Worlds Longest Skating Rink.

Bring some warm clothes sometimes it get pretty cold here.

The ISSA should sanction races. It should not dictate where a National Championship should take place or the types of courses that will be used.

I agree that the World's should be held in different locations. The World Slalom Skateboarding Championships will be held in the Morro Bay area in 2005 as part of Slalom Week 2005. The 2006 site should be decided upon now.

As one of the principal players behind the slalom movement over the last five years, I find it interesting to not be included in any ISSA meetings, conferences or email groups.

The 2006 World Championships are to be held on the hill of St Germain, in Brittany, this race is in 2005 a SuperGiant and the setting is absolutely consensual since the locals do a famous sausage pancake, with lots of cider and other local beverages. Also this is a hand held to the British racers who are not very far, and it is closer to California too (by the west route). This is certainly going to be a historical moment, the point of programming a drunk cart and longskate freeride under rain again (2 main U turns and serious slope) like in 2004 still has to be decided.
