It's time to register your team for the Nations Cup event!
This is a "fun" event, but the honor is there and we have specially designed trophies which will be a memorable piece for the top three teams. Which is the fastest national team? Can the Swiss defend their latest title? Will Italy throw them off the podium, now that they may come with a full team. Or Canada participating for the first time? Or Latvia who'll also have a full team this time around? Will USA come back and bring the trophy to USA again? France will have a stronger than ever team this year. What can they do to stir things up? And the Germans, how are they when they get together as a team. Sweden, UK and Russia will want their share of the glory too, so it looks really promising.
Registration is open until Friday 18.00. No extra entry fee requested. For registrations or changes to your team at the race site, please talk to Corky, who'll be coordinating this event.
A team consists of:
- 3 riders from the same country + 1 or 2 reserves
- Pro/Am/Women racers can be mixed
A country can register more than one team.
Mixed country teams are only allowed if a country does not have enough racers to fill up a team. Such a team must be accepted by the race committee, which may refuse for whatever reason they see fit.
The qualification score is calculated by taking the final result of each team member during the three other events: giant, tight and special, but counting only the best two. Each result is scored using the World Ranking points for a Major status event and added up to obtain a total score for the team. That score is used to determine how the teams will meet in the finals. (The fine print: Pro points are worth more than Am points. Womens points are worth slightly more than Am points).
Only the top 8 teams will race in the finals, but all registered teams will be listed in the final results.
The teams will meet in a standard head-to-head format as follows:
1 vs 8
4 vs 5
3 vs 6
2 vs 7
Within a team the riders will be ranked according to their total score during the weekend. The best rider becomes the teams no 1, the second best no 2 and finally no 3.
In each round the teams' racers will meet as follows:
A1 vs B1
A2 vs B2
A3 vs B3
A1 vs B2
A2 vs B3
A3 vs B1
A1 vs B3
A2 vs B1
A3 vs B2
The A team in the listing above is always the team that had the best qualification position. It has the advantage of being able to choose the course which will remain the same during the round.
The course will be a special slalom, probably similar to the one used during the special slalom Pro race, but may be adapted by the race committee to suit the Nations Cup race (for example if the special Pro course was deemed to hard, it may be made easier or vice versa). Each round consists of only one run. Times are recorded and cones are counted as usual. Best time with any cones added wins 1 point.
The first team that scores a total of 5 victories/points against the riders of the other team, advances to the next round.
After the final registration on Friday, a team may still replace one of their riders, but only with one of those registered as a reserve, in case of accident or if a registered racer is not able to participate in the Nations Cup final. That racer automatically becomes their no 3 rider and his/her qualification score is not taken into account (even if it would improve the teams qualification score). A reserve may register as a reserve in more than 1 team, but will only be allowed to race in one.

You are free to modify your teams up until Friday at 18.00. The final listing of the teams will be presented Saturday at the race site.
