ISSA - International Slalom Skateboarding Association

This is a pre-announcement of the Paris Slalom World Cup to let you know that the dates...

MAY 26-27-28
(Saturday, Sunday, Monday)

...have been booked for the 2007 edition of Paris Slalom World Cup.

The new president of Riderz Association, Vincent Berruchon is leading the effort together with Guillaume St-Criq and with Alain Esnault on administration duties (like every year). Alain is also the president of the Regional Paris Skateboard Association (all skate and rollerskate in the region) and the president of the National Downhill Association - CND (of which slalom is a part). These two organizations are responsible for the event, outside of the slalom area (permits, food, electricity and coordination with other sports such as rollerskate & other etc). Alain is assisted on the skate side by Jean-Sébastien Dennebouy, the full time employee (!) of CND.

I'll do my duties during the event (probably as timing, race director, speaker - to be determined) but I'm not participating in organizational tasks leading up to the event.

More news from the race organization will follow when available.

could you quickly guess what time the Pros will have take their first run on Saturday? I considered flying in from Berlin on Saturday morning. Arrival time would be 10:25 at Paris Orly Aéroport. Possible to make it to the Pro's GS qualifications?

Well, I quickly checked on last year's schedule; Pro Giant Slalom Training begun at 15 o'clock.

I would really apreciate if you could set up a similar schedule for 2007.

Ramon, you understand that we cannot set the schedule according to the plane you want to take!
But here's a few precisions:
We'll probably ask all Amateurs and Girl racers to be at the Trocadero at 9:00.
Pro racers training probably won't begin before 12:00 but it's better to arrive before
because you'll have to validate your registration, get your racer pack and prepare your gear...

So, it should be OK for you to be at the Trocadero just in time from Orly Airport - but don't loose time.
Of course I encourage all the racers to arrive before that to be sure that everybody will be ready to race in time.

Same question as always, will the GS be at Troca if so, why not put it on the last day?

We practiced uphill yesterday so that team Sweden are ready for the finale thing after taking first and second. We haven't decided yet who needs step back and take third and fourth, but I'm sure our team manager will make a wise decision.

Ramon do you practice any or do you just sit around getting fat for the DH races?

For the moment, Giant should take place at Trocadero, but we're still working on another place.

Trocadero is now a slalom world classic. After an unforgettable 2006 edition, you can expect another great edition for this 5th event thanks to our collaboration with the "Paris Festival Glisse" (the solid organization you know with more media coverage, animations...)

About rain:
But we are lucky that the Trocadero dry really quickly as soon the rain stop. So even rainy days we managed to race each time.

But I will check taht we could use a skatepark improved recently with a roof so at least we could skate not to far.
(FOr the moment without big BIG money, in case of rain we've found nothing interesting to race indoor in Paris).

I look forward to meeting all of you!!
I will be in Paris Thursday afternoon. Will there be a course setup at the Trocadero already on Thrusday? Can we practice on that day?

You have to know that the closer of the Trocadéro area, the more expensive ! When you are in Paris, you're never too far from everywhere !

It'll be online (as in previous years) and we have a tradition to not put it up too early. It's in the process of being finalized, so it'll be up sometime soon.

Certainly, there will at least the same amount of tents, for the organizers, for the equipment, for sponsors/exhibitors and probably a tent or two for the racers (for sun protection - nothing else planned), but really why do you ask?

Yes, tents are available for brands or distributors that want to show their products. There are really few still available but it's an unique occasion to promote your stuff with the Eiffel tower as landscape.
The money paid for the tent goes directly to the Prize Money purse.

Don't hesitate to contact me , Guillaume Saint-Criq or Jani if you are interested about sponsoring PSWC 2007.

I also remind everybody, that if you plan to promote or sell something during Paris Slalom World Cup, please contact us about partnership.
On site promotion is exclusively reserved to sponsors.
If you don't sponsor the event, don't sell anything there!

Me and Civ will be there to bother you again, but we're crashing at a hotel. Hope your fake english accent has improved Too bad your ma can't make it, she's a chiller, give her our canadian best.

Humm... some security guys will be in charge of the tents during the nights.
So anybody cannot be there. Access will be restricted.

Know that some French are ready to host racers that can't afford hotel.

Normally nobody should stay in the tent to sleep. A few years ago, organizers stayed there because we coudn't have a night guard so it become a kind of habit.
So sleeping in the tents could be possible, but ASK US before if you want to choose this solution (PM me). We cannot let too many people there and you'll have to respect a few rules.

I've been hearing about the Paris Slalom World Cup for Years.My earliest slalom memories are John Gilmour showing me his 2nd place trophies from 2003. My school schedule and good luck are allowing me to attend this race. I had a lot of fun in Brixlegg hanging out with all the french dudes especially Patrick and Frederick.

I've got a plane ticket and a eurrail pass, but that's about it so far. I am looking for someone to split a hotel room with or anywhere to stay really. I just need space for my sleeping bag. I don't have a whole lot of cash. Anyone whose got a clue about this whole event and the city of paris.

Bryan 'the weasel' won't be coming with me as he is involved with his classes graduation and prom partying. So I need a new race room mate.

I'd like to take my camera, as well as my board(s); is there a secured area, where I can leave one of them for some time? (a small fee for that would be no problem, at least not to me). But no problem if there isn't.

Are the purple "homeless tents" gone? Or is it possible to mingle our tents between theirs, thus supporting the requests by homeless clochards for affordable houses?

There should be no problem for your camera. We can keep an eye on it.....

There's no safe area at the Trocadéro, but there are fences around the skate area and so far we haven't had many problems with thefts. Typically skaters look after other skaters stuff. There is also the timing/speaker table between the starting ramps which always has people up there, so more valuable equipment can always be put around there. But it's still on your own risk.

Avoid leaving valuables, bags and decks close to the fences towards the outside of the area. Trocadero is a place where things easily get stolen.

Haha, no, just slalom and filming, but some great Dutch freestylers (like Hans Smit, Bart Brunninkhuis) are planning to demonstrate there!
We'll freestyle some other time, OK? Taking 3 boards (or even 2), together with a video camera, etc. to Paris is a bit heavy.
