[2007] G.O.G. IN GERMANY at the 22nd of APRIL

Posted: Mon Jan 29, 2007 9:42 am
by Donald Campbell
hey there...
i had a few phonecalls the last few days with a lot of good guys across europe, all were asking for a G.O.G. encore.
i was reluctant to do this,but....here we go.
i'll do it again, one time only this spring, sort of a season opener.
i'll bring some nice sponsors for this outlaw race,i'll bring the BIG ramps,i'll bring a good gs course in düsseldorf.
we got a big forest section here in düsseldorf with a lot of long and winding roads there, good height differences, fast and techy courses.
remember:this is an outlaw race and i don't need any sanctioning here,no shooting for points at all.
i need you and good vibes to make it a good day!!!!!!!!!!
also remember that the G.O.G. crew has free beds and breakfast for you!!!!

so mark your calendar for this race.
i'll try to keep an open slot for 2 days actually, since most guys will come for a weekened anyway.the bowl is within reach and needs more shredding too.

BRING YOUR BIG BOARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and stay tuned to this topic for more updates and info on the actual track to be chosen, timetable, sponsor announcements and so on.

thanks so far for the tremendous interest a lot of people showed for G.O.G. races!

what i'll do in advance is to open a registration here on ss.com.
so we can hook up a lot of riders coming with free places to stay during those 2 days.
check the other thread which will read:"G.O.G. REGISTRATION HERE".
pics of the proposed tracks will follow shortly.
right now the forest area is still closed due to the heavy storm we had recently.that's the only thing that hinders me giving you the lowdown.but in a week or so the forest section will be opened to the public again.then you'll see what we are talking about,ok?

registration fee will be 10 euros per rider.
i'll make sure nobody walks home empty handed after the race.
shirts, boards and schwag will be included in the prize giving.
as of now sponsors for that race are :PAVEL,CONCRETE WAVE,CARHARTT,VANS,VIBES.
other sponsors(local) are invited to join and share!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

something extra to fuel the stoke:
I'll throw down an extra contest at the bowl and a big barbeque there the day before the race.
rules of that fun-contest tba.

all the money given to me by the riders goes into the race and the bbq.
does that sound good enough?

i spoke with steve yesterday about ramps:
the lowest ramp you'll get is the ramp used in paris and b-legg,maybe we come up with something even bigger and badder.
we all want to have SPEED aint it so?

Bowl contest sounds great!

This is about slalom, isn't it?

OK, I'll be there with my slalom board, from Saturday on: no participation, just practice. Where is the event exactly? Schedule? Cheap hotel nearby?

Hans,
great You will be attending our race in a way or another.
Bring Bas de Man from Den Hague and all your slalom-buddies ...and sisters.
We are looking forward racing with you guys.

giant ramp

by Steve Hinzen
If I find time to built it and the budget allows it, I will built a huge starting-ramp.

It will be at least 2 meters high. It will have the sharpest roll-in curve possible (without scratching the bottom of a longer board) leading into a steep 50 dregree slope and a smooth transition at the bottom. You will feel like dropping into the course.

I always wanted to built something like that for a giant-race.

Everybody will have the free choice to do a push-start beside the ramp.

Yesterday Jerome from Liege (Lüttich) was at my shop and bougt a GOG Truck. Good choice by the way. He said that he will come to the race too. Nice to see that our area is growing a little bit more and more.

Location exactly? Schedule? Cheap hotel nearby? Transport?

Posted: Fri Feb 02, 2007 5:12 pm
by Hans Lucas
Hi, I'm looking forward to be there, although single-lane giant slalom isn't my most favorite discipline.
But pls reply some handy information here:

# What is the exact location? The schedule? Is there a cheap hotel nearby? Is there public transport from the Hauptbahnhof and if so, which bus???

(I hope I don't have to translate these questions into French or Swedish ;)
This basic information is really required when one wants to arrive in time at the right spot...

o.k. Don, let's do it one week earlier. So there is more time till the next contest (Paris).

Sven, it's nice to hear the Pape Brats are coming. So we don't have to wait till Hannover.

Hans Lucas, just wait for further information. I think we can arrange a bed for everybody coming from far away the week before the race.

Found some time to work on plans for THE ramp.
Even organized some of the wood for the construction this we.
It's going to be KILLER.
I want everybody to love it or... hate it.

... he thanks steve and fred ... yes berlin is hopefully in the starting blocks. the next weeks we have to find out in some internals races who is fit enough to be sent "into the cove of the lion" ... hopefully 3-4 hungry and top motivated racers from the capital are making it to the "ruhrpott" . stay tuned and wait for the names .... ;-)

cheers so far

OK, I'll solve your problem by NOT going to your contest.
I'm sorry, but I have to work in that period ;(. The other date was great, because April 30 is a public holliday in Holland....

We should add two races on flat ground (indoor!?) and candidate for a MAJOR, hehe!

Now delete!

Hey steve

I have a nice indoor spot? I think 8-10 straight cones is possible with a 50cm Ramp to start on. But only boards from 60-65cm are allowed!!!! Don here we go...

Posted: Thu Feb 08, 2007 1:18 pm
by Donald Campbell
ey carsten look outside the window.
pics? impossible...
bummer...
when we do the indoor contest i want to limit the wheel size to 25 mms.
also full saftey gear is required and no music.
first of all each racer has to fill out a 3 page application which entitles him also to
the subscription of several useless magazines and a russian car, which is not allowed
to drive on german streets, due to safety hazards.
we also strongly enforce used number-trikots.
we have a meeting room nearby where the organizer will meet with the staff(49 people)
to discuss the event and drink heavy booze.
once the organizer is drunk enough,we'll start the race.
girls attending have to show proof to the organizer that they are girls(hehehe).
ceremony later on is hedl by the böhler blaskapelle and each visitor who paid 99 euros
entrance fee will get a free pack of handkerchiefs to dry the tears.

the event itself is promoted by me with flyers made out of cheap toilet paper and spread in the neighbourhoods mailboxes.

i want to thank my mother, who is the main sponsor this year!!!
1st gets a used hairdryer
2nd gets staceys old underwear
3rd gets a slap in the face
4th to 10th get a warm handshake

the organizer himself gets all the money and will spend the rest of the evening at the rethelstr.75.

tell everybody whats on Rethelstr. ! :-)))
