Confirmed, we will be 4 arriving Saturday the 21st hopefully around 11 am.
Can anybody tell me what the distance between cones will be?

Posted: Tue Apr 10, 2007 5:53 pm
by Donald Campbell
hey flavio:
the distance between cones will range from 2-3m to max 5-7 m.
it would be wise to bring a 34" deck to this race
your axe might be good too but a bit underdimensioned for that race, but it will work
anybody who makes it down that ramp will have max speed from cone #1
the rest will get a good pushstart field though.
we want to make sure that there is a decent speed ratio involved from cone#1 already.

the surface is good and grippy.
the course length will be somewhat between 40-60 secs.

i will have enough prizes for each and everyone attending this race

Hi Don,
I will set my Axe 2 to GS so I kind of hope it will more or less do the job.
I don´t think I will have any trouble getting down the ramp, it is getting up on it that worries me... :-)

some wheel choices might not be a bad idea
since i'm setting the course with frank together we thought about making this thing really fast,no brakes in there, just speed.maybe a few alternate wheels with a different duro are a good choice.which translates into:hrader is not bad....maybe...

yeah make it fast!

Thumbs up for hard wheels!

It will be a nice giant like brix!
But for me the problem is this big ramp!! I am sure that I couldn't take it!
If it is possible to take the Start on the floor! It is ok for me!

as heiko said before
no pool before you all emptied your pockets at his store
hahahahahaha
the ramp is ready
i just got back from working with steve, frank, christoph, dirty dom on it
2,10 m high
very fast and nice

we surely hope you like it all

since pushstarts are also allowed for the faint-hearted i want to let you know that you can't get the speed the ramp delivers with a push start.
just that you are aware of that fact.

reflecting on past heroes from the early revival of slalom racing in germany i want to proudly announce that we call this ramp the "ANDI PREUSS MEMORIAL RAMP".

as it seems our american friend joe iovacelli is in dire need of some shaveing to say so.
on silverfish the guys opened up a thread about joe being shaved or unshaved.
as i know the g.o.g. crew is always superfriendly to guests we should take care of joe latest at the race track if i don't catch him off guard during the night.
so bring some stuff for shaving joe,ok?

steep and deep / the need for speed

Posted: Fri Apr 13, 2007 6:17 pm
by Steve Hinzen
Size DOES matter!

All (serious) members of the GoG are very proud to present their new giant starting ramp.
All participants of the race next weekend will start from the highest and steepest slalom ramp of the world so far!

The ramp is 2,1m high (7 feet) and 80 cm wide and it is over 50 degrees steep!
The table is long enough for everybody willing to pull out at maximum power.
The "roll in" has a sharp radius of 80 cm. No worries for long slalomboards about touching. But forget about dropping in with a longboard.
The lower transition has a radius of 3 m and leads into a close-to-flat-end, no bump at all.

The drop is smooth from top to bottom and gives you speed from the first cone.

The ramp is as easy -or even easier- to ride as any other existing starting ramp.
No excuse for racers who are used to starting ramps of any kind.
Last sunday riders of all levels have made the drop without any efforts.

The only difference is the dramatic perspective from the table.

We love it. You will love it.

Remember they will have to built it high enough so that the wines will snap at that very last moment allowing you to land both feet on your board which will be placed right at the base of the ramp. :-)

Bunch of pussies. We have no high ramps in the UK because every time we build one, a nude pagan religion pops along and burns a Christian in it.

Still, it means that we are compelled to run 120 races in the allocated hour provided, and our marshmallows are nicely done.

The shop is open at 11 o`clock but I will be in the shop at 15 o clock because I have to work at my real job. The Kaliber crew and some other guys from Cologne will come to my shop at about 16-17 oclock and then we all drive together to the Pool for the BBQ and Pool Session at the Factory in Düsseldorf.

Although all the guys from Berlin, Holland, USA, Swiss, UK...are welcome to come and visit
the shop.

See you all next weekend. Hopefully the weather is as good as this weekend.

we know this is an outlaw...
to make sure we can stay at that place, here are a few important rules which help to make the stay at the place SAFE.
#1
parking can be done at the end of the race track, around the corner.
don't try to park anywhere else, you will have to move from that section anyway.
#2
no bbq at the track at any time during that day
#3
please make sure you don't junk there, pick up your stuff and take it home, please

thnaks for reading this and enjoy the race

WHAT A WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the crews came in over the weekend, berlin, england, holland, sweden, france, switzerland, even america was there.joe iocavelli stayed at my place, what a nice guy.thanks joe for visiting us!!!!!.
the bowl session on saturday evening was supergood, lots of bbq, grinds and fun.
hell,i even managed to partially destroy my left knee.having had no sleep due to the swollen ball the left knee turned out to become i headed sunday morning with joe and sam and paul to the track in cologne.the experienced G.O.G. crew was already there and we started working on the ejector which got almost lost on the highway.
a very nice race went on with a good crowd and a good list of racers.a few newbies showed up too and the overall vibe was excellent.
i want to say thank you to everybody who came to either race or watch.
carhartt filled the bag big time again with lots of good prizes and the pro section took quite a few euros home too.joe iocavelli stepped up the plate offering a geezerized bennett truck which looked way better than the crappy canadian version.
thank you joe for being so kind to donate schwag.
we had special awards for the oldest nutsack which from now on is flavio badenes with 49 years and lots of fire.
longest travel award went to our american friend of course.

again:thank you all for coming and making the event as enjoyable as it was.
without you it would have been nothing!
now we wait for vids and pics which will surface the next few days.

well done Donald !
That was really an exiting weekend. I allways like to meet the "old" and "new" slalom friends.
Sunday race was a lot of fun with some unexpected AM results. Some did very good ( Max and Manfred), some did expect a better final place.
I would like to see some more experienced cone marshalls in the upcoming races. ;-)
PRO class was fast and Dominik won as expected.
Mikael from Team Kaliber raced like a true viking with some self motivating roars on the starting ramp! :-)
btw, everybody loved our "Eiffel-Tower" starting ramp !
See you all in Hannover !

Thanks a lot to Don and the GOG crew and various sponsors of this fantastic event.
It was so much FUN to race this track, altough my time did not reflect this.
The new start ramp was a great experience, I had a hard time to climb it up LOL.
We'll call it the Free-Climbing-Mega Ramp from now on. If you make it to the top, sure you will go down without a problem.
I will probably invest in a GS board in the future, Donald
