Isola [PRIME], France June 20-21, 2009

Post by Pierre Samray » Tue May 19, 2009 12:09 am

Date : June 20/21

Place : Isola (One hour from Nice and the French riviera)

Contest : Newrider slalom skate contest.
Open class, women, junior and special ranking for French championship (French licence)

Races : Straight 100 cones, special and giant hybrid

All the races will be race on a single track.

Start ramp : same as Grenoble

Organisation : Antibes crew

The place.
In a small village between 2 skis stations. A very nice cycle road with perfect asphalt running long a river.
Accomodations : Camping at the end of the race area.
Schedule
Sathurday morning : 100 cones.
Sathurday evening : special
Sunday morning : Giant hybrid
Sunday evening : Open race as Cross country

Entry fees : 30€ for all the races or 10€ for one race.

Registration : Soon on internet.

Comment :
This race is a part of the championship, but strangers are welcome. It's just one week before Grenoble. A good training for those who decide to travel to France for more than a week-end. Not so far from Italy (Col de la Lombarde).
Just a small race in a small village but perfect place to have fun without pressure.
Still waiting the status.

Oups! Want to say. The race is a part of the French championship.

Tested the asphalt today. It was perfect.
I add some pictures on the French site : riderz.net

Give some news on Monday about accommodations.

Fresh news about Isola : Finally we have a perfect road with soft slope in the middle of the village which permit to race in dual on sathurday. So straight become 50 cones in dual in place of the one track 100 cones on saturday morning and special become dual too on saturday afternoon. On sunday more difficulty to have autorizations for the cycle road!!! but anyway we'll put a giant hybrid as an outlaw.

Here is a picture from the road with use for the giant hybrid. I can't wait to test it.
We'll use 300 meters of this perfect asphalt. Slope moving between 2° and 6° finish area is flat.

Sathurday afternoon : Special parallel slalom 50 cones
We certainly put between the 2 races, a promotion slalom for the beginners (wide spaces between cones)

Sathurday night : We reserve a big chalet for the staff and the racers and organize our own party.

Great news Petr!!
About accomodation : Just tell me when you arrive and how many place you need, I'm looking after everything. I reserve a big chalet for all the staff and racers.

4 slaloms in 2 days. I pass all the day on the super giant place yesterday. I've to clean all the road (stones, rock, armtrees, dust and everything bring by avlanche this winter). But the place is wonderful and the race will be amazing : Imagine more than 1 minute long with a hairpin in the middle!

Here are some pictures of the super-Giant road. The place is amazing, lost in the nature.
But I've a lot of work to clean the road. The asphalt as often in the mountain is not so perfect as what you can find in a city.
Image
Alone with my balai, but happy to be there
Image
The hairpin in the middle of the race will be the judge of this race
Image
The end of the race is fast and the asphalt has a correct grip. I'll certainly put big space and offset cones to brake a little bit.
Image
Well 450 meters long and certainly more than 1 minutes to do it.
Anyway I'm sure you'll never forget it.
All the protecs are needed.
Downhiller must enjoy this type of slalom too.

Here is the chalet I reserve for all the competitors and staff (30 places)
Image
And here is the place we race the straight and the special on sathurday only 400 meters from the chalet. Perfect asphalt 150 meters long. Suffisant for a 50 cones races.

About accomodations : Fore those who arrive Friday afternoon or evening. After the village of Isola in direction of St Etienne de Tinée (you have a parking of the right side, you continue about 400 meters let on your left side a football stadium. After that you have on the left side a small street which is normally (forbidden sens ) You can take it. And the Chalet is just in front of you. You ca nenter it's reserved for us. If you're totally lost. On the same road you have the entry of "CAMPING DU LAC DES NEIGES" go directly to the office and tell you're coming for the skate race.
