Good point Kevin....hey Chef.....a great skate hill or bank is a good thing to keep secret...but that may not be the case for a race....especially for folks who are flying in
Kev, not sure if you got a hotel yet, but they're filling up...yuo can always reserve a room and cancel if need be a couple days before.
Nancy and I kept our reservations at the Allegro (we got it for 240.00 for two nights).
It's just under a mile from where some of the other guys are staying (embassy suites) but it's a nice walk....It's also about 100.00 less per night if you can still get in. There's also the Holiday Inn right next door to the Embassy Suites, coming in at about 300.00 for two nights....nice place too ....there's still options at some places
I think we may bring a timer and cones just-in-case though

Chicago?
Well,
It has been awfully quiet around here; no recent posts, no sign-up/contest calendar.
Is this thing still gonna happen? The race (if there still is a race) is only 3 weeks away.
Who all is gonna show?

Boy Howdy I tell you what. You may be right on that one Chris. Nothing worse than racing feeling like crap the next day. Georgia 2004 we had to catch a plane the day after the race. The party did not end till 5:00 in the morning. I passed out as soon as I got on the plane heading to Houston. Joe I will give you a call on Monday Bro. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

man, now the pressure's on me to make sure this hotel was the right choice!....
I trust the travel agents at the office though....we're in good hands..
Hey Chef, as far as the bar crawl.....i'm hoping these places will be close enough to walk to too...Nancy can skate but she says it'd be pretty hard to do in heels....so we'll be hoofing it....no problems though......just somebody save us a seat when you beat us to the next watering hole ......
Getting geeked on going back to the windy city with my coast to coast compadres

Brandon here is the plan. We arrive at the contest site. Throw down are entry fee and yell from the top of our lungs " Now hands us our tropys." Remember we are there to shut down, Hester, shut down Page and shut dow Skoldberg. Been watching Dogtown and the Z-Boys one too many times. Counting the days. Eddy Texas Outlaws Rule.

Get a Suite
Hey Guys:
Depending on how many of us need a place to crash - why don't we find a suite and have everyone hang out at the same place.
On the same note - we could all stay with Chris!!!!
Eddy - not a problem, look forward to helping you out.
All the best,
Rob

Rob and Civ look forward to seeing you bros. Maybe C-fav can throw up some hotels, not too expensive where we could all hang. Rob I will email about the Pensaid. I will either buy it off you or we can trade for it. My knee could really use it. It is not availible in the states. Counting the days. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

Chicago in the summer time............i dunno...it's a pretty rundown location...nothing much to do in that town....kinda dismal.....ghetto..
I mean, who wants to race at a location like this?

Folks have always said they wanted a race in a big city with lots going on...this is it for sure
Good job Freaks................this one's already on my calendar

chi-town shoot out 2005 slalom and bowlriders
here is the lowdon.we have met with the park district, they are on board,we have tentitive sponsor in uprise skate shop.the deal is,the race will be held at wilson ave and the lake.the hill is next to the skatepark, sooo the line up looks like this.sat 7/23, tight slalom jam in the a.m..we will use the results from tight to bracket the hybrid.we will run the hybrid in the afternoon.in the evening we will host a bowlriders contest at the park.some of you guys have skated the ameoba at wilson and know its killer.so the hill is right next to the park,it is butter,it is wide and it is ours.we look to have a signed commitment on this by next friday so i can bring flyers to athens and post it on the web.needless to say this event is going to be huge, tons of crossover.maybe we can do a team cup too,ie:daggers, freak bros, kill city, red clay, etc.here we go people.cf

check your pocketbook too!
That hard rock hotel is mucho dinero
Last time we were there we stayed at a "hotel with character".....actually, some old joint right on Michigan across from the park. Great price (i think about 125 a night, Chicago aint cheap), great location, and the place was kinda clean, but over 100 years old and it was starting to show it's age. None the less, for a decent bed close to the action it was worth it. Chris is right though, i think i typed in CHICAGO HOTELS in Search and found some websites that listed them all out.
Expect to spend between 125 and 200. A bit high, but it's worth it, trust me.
The race last time was near the field museum on the east side of Grant Park. Assuming that's the general area where this one will be too. So depending on how far you want to walk/taxi, let that be your guide. If you take your car, there's parking a short distance away at Shedds Aquarium. It's a very very nice park to walk thru, completely safe.
