[FCR 2003] Pictures of 2003 FCR Slalom World Championships

Post by Glenn S » Wed Oct 01, 2003 11:15 pm

Pan through the thumbnail pictures and click on the one you'd like to see a larger version of.

These are all the pictures that I took. I did not really take it to seriously. Some turned out ok though. There are about 190 pictures total here. Should keep you busy for awhile

UPDATE: The below should work for both PC and Mac:

Photoshop "Album" version

I also posted some.....here

Also some pictures at the FCR site : http://www.fcrseries.com/2003_worlds/2003_worlds.html

Hey Glen, when I click on a thumb it doesn't open a larger format...I wonder why?

Glenn -

You're NOT using straight HTML. Your source code is Windows-centric.

Here is your problem (taken from your source code):

FRAME NAME="image" SRC="page\image1.html"

Only Windows uses a backslash for anything. Try using a forward slash "/" instead and it should work for all users, not just those using Windoze.

Gary - it works in Explorer 5.X, but not in Safari (based on Mozilla open-source).

Nick, Glenn,

I made the proposed update and it still works on Windows. How about you Mac users?

FWIW, on my mac using safari as the browser, clicking on the thumbnails fails to load that image in the main frame to the right. I still see just blank white space. But if I select "open link in new window" then the image will load. And unforntunately, if opening the image in a new window, the "next" and "previous" buttons do not work - they just send you back to the page with the thumbnails. So it's something in the frame code that doesn't work on mac.

Thanks for the info guys. I used PhotoImpact7's preset "photo album" to do it for me.

I do also have PhotoShop. Does anyone know if the PhotoShop preset "photo album" feature is both Mac and Windows friendly.

The reason I went with the preset feature is that it takes a ton of my valuable time to edit pictures for the web and this seemed like an easy way to get the job done fast with so many pictures.

If anyone knows if the PhotoShop6 preset is friendly for both I'll do that and re-upload the pictures using that version.

Glenn, Can't you make just a small attempt, not on the whole thing. This is useful information for us all. I never got around posting my pictures from last years Morro Bay, just because there were so many of them.

I installed PhotoShop 7 yesterday. I might give it a try.

Sure I could select certain pictures. All this takes time though. I'll see what I can do when I can find the time.

I had intentionally figured that I'd just do the lump sum and then get around to doing a smaller version in the future anyway. All this is a learing experience.

I just took all that I had and threw it into the program, out popped the results and I uploaded it. It was a no brainer really.

But I had tried PhotoShop's "photo album" version for something else I did once and did not like it as much as PhotoImpact. PhotoImpact is a good picture editor, but I guess it is Windowscentric, I did not know this.

Here's a test I just did with PhotoShop 7 of a few selected pictures out of those already published.

PhotoShop 7 web gallery test

----> Stupid me, after all my attempts the one I liked the most was one without thumbnails...

Below is one with thumbnails and frames:

PhotoShop 7 web gallery test with frames for PC and Mac?

Mac users let me know if this last one works.

...Jani, as you know, my system is made up of two iMacs connected by a ethernet cable and then through a dial-up.

What ever it is that you used as an example, it works well. I could get Glenn's to work but it was "broken" in that the main frame would not show.

So to answer your question Jani, what you did worked.

Thanks both Glenn and Jani.

I was just messing around with PhotoShop6 and I looked at the html source and I did not see that backslash in the code. And seeing that PhotoShop is originally a Mac program I would think that this would be best.

Would you mind if I upload what I've done? It is all the pictures. At a later time I could redo it smaller or you could if you want. It is a bit more mb's overall than the Photoimpact version by about 6mb, for a total of about 18mb's in all.

PS. Jani, one of those pictures in those albums you did is not mine and I cannot take credit for it. The one of Luca at the slalomcross is by Pat Chewing.

[ I wasn't sure where I took the pictures, so I threw in a photo credit for the three photographers whose pictures I had viewed over the last two days: Glenn S, Gary H, Pat C. /Jani ]

I had the same results for Glenn’s and Jani’s pages that Adam just mentioned. My browser is Mozilla 1.2.1 (Netscape 6), system is Mac OS 9.2.2, on a dial-up connection.

Glenn,

We have unlimited traffic, unlimited storage at http://www.slalomskateboarder.com I want you to feel free to upload what it is that pertains to the sport. I would like to suggest that you be efficient as possible though.

You are the "staff photographer" here and it's your call.

Feel free to upload your new version, in the future, no need to ask permission for such things, that's your area of responsibility. I'm sure you understand what needs to be discussed and what doesn't.

Thank you again for putting me there with your photographs. Life got in the way this year for me to travel to the Farm and to the Worlds. I'm planning on the next IGSA/WLAC race and farther out, Paris next year. Would you like to join me?

Adam,
I've already done so and it is available for viewing in the link in the first post in this thread.

I just posted ALL pictures as before. It gives everyone a bunch to look at.

If anyone wants a copy of a certain picture in its full file size just let me know(via email)the number of the picture(example: B03_0152) and I can email you whatever you like.

Sorry about the previous version to those of you with Mac's, now I know better.

I used the photoshop automated "web photo gallery" (or something like that: it's in the file menu, automate submenu) to produce the simple thumbnail page and slide show pages for the pictures I took at Morro Bay. It's not too attractive but it works, I think, and took me no time at all since it resizes the photos for the thumbnails and builds the pages automatically. You can even set it to resize or compress the full size images as well so that people aren't suffering through a 300k download for an image that looks just as good on screen as an 80k version.

Here's what mine looked like:

p.s. I believe it works both Mac and Windows since I've never had any complaints about the code photoshop spits out.

I'd heard some speculation that Chicken might be working on new wheels. One of the pics (of a "Chillin' Chicken" in a red shirt) seems to show an unusual set of clear wheels on a (wood?) Pocket Pistol. Anyone talk to him about them or have anything they care to share? (Note: If your answer involves the phrase, "But then I'd have to shoot you," then never mind.)

I think I might have to agree with you there, Rene. That is a very interesting racing shot. With Charlie just blurring into the frame it leaves a very strong impression of the intense, competitive nature of this sport.

Thumbs up!
