Results in .pdf

Post by Jack Smith » Sun Oct 24, 2004 8:30 pm

Here is a link to the OP World Championships of Skateboard Racing Results (.pdfs).

On Saturday during the head to head racing, the timing system was incorrectly
quadrupling the false start penalty and adding it to the racer's time.

In the race between Kenny Mollica and Richy Carrasco in the round of 16, Richy
should have advanced by .3 seconds.

I have spoken to Richy and Kenny regarding this matter.
They have accepted this unfortunate mistake with the grace of true sportsmen.
Both Kenny and Richy will be awarded 3rd place points in the slalom.

As race director I take full responsibility for this mistake.

I would like to thank all of the competitors for their outstanding cooperation at this year's event.

Best Regards,
Jack Smith
Race Director

I respect all people involved in this issue. It is sensitive. And of course mistakes can be done. I mean, shit happens. We can never avoid it. The difficult thing is how to deal with it. And especially since friends of ours are involved it makes it even harder for all of us. The positive thing with mistakes though is to make us all learn from them. That way we can all try to avoid them in the future. And if they happen again we know how to deal with it. Then it doesn't have to be on the shoulders of the racers involved to make sensitive judgements. And it could help the race organizer to get some backing in his judgement. That's why I would like to present my opinion on this.
