I had a blast in the land of peaches, and just got back home on Monday evening. Rick did a superb job on the Georgia State 2003 Slalom Championship. Actually, it was more than just “superb”. It was nothing less than OUTSTANDING. I give special thanks to both Red Bull and The Mean Bean. Red Bull is of course the energy drink of choice - Always drink a Red Bull in preparation for an intense session. The Mean Bean, of Athens Georgia, offers delicious Mexican food and is just the thing for after-skating replentishment, as well as anytime one wants give their taste buds and appetite a party. Thanks also to 3DM, Radikal, Comet, Webb, Indy, and Marcos Soulsby Monroy (Lord of the Ring DVDs). (Let me know if I made any mistakes here). Also, thanks to Low J’s Boardshop. If you want skateboarding equipment and don’t like having to navigate through racks and racks of BS, check out Low J’s - 1029 Baxter St, Athens Georgia 706-353-3883
The Byrd team was on fire - Good skateboarding, Josh and Ricky. Not surprisingly, in this early stage of slalom’s resurgence, the veteran team known as Radikal ruled the course - But Washington DC Slalomer Brian Parsons almost kicked asphalt in the face of one of them. Tom Thompson is a nice guy if he happens to be going slow enough to talk to (he’s too fast on the board). Patio, Keep those biker glasses shiney. Clifton, I need to clip my nails - got a hacksaw I can borrow? Jonathan Harms, Sean Dawkins, Eric Moore, Eddy, Katii, Lisa - Always good to see each of you. Jonny-D - As usual, great job on the mic - great job on the board. PaDan - bad luck hits one of us in the form of poor starts, but you are the ultimate winner, being a newlywed and all. I hope to see you all, and everyone else at the WV Championship. Don’t know if I’ll be at the CA Championship or not.
