The next race in the 2003 Portland Grass Roots 2003 Series will be June 29th. We will be having a tighter more challenging course, trophies, computerized timing/scoring, and plenty of prizes!
We will be returning to our site at 167th and Cornell Rd in Beaverton.
We have a couple of racers who will be attending from Arizona and California, as well as the usual contingent from Seattle. Everyone's chances of winning just went up a notch, as Michael Dong will be out of the country on business.

There will be 3 races this summer in the Portland Oregon area. The exact format, venues, sponsors, and other details are TBD.
The dates are:
Weekend of 26 April 2003 "Spring Thaw"
Weekend of 28 June 2003 "Midsummer Burn"
NEW: June 29th, not June 28th
Weekend of 6 September 2003 "Fall Final"
What to expect:
Beginner to intermediate courses. Not necessarily dual-slalom (some sites only single-track). Prizes. No entry fee (OK, maybe we'll pass around the hat for donations). Electronic timing system. Push starts. At least 2 variations in course setup (Tight Slalom and Hybrid Slalom). Formats will encourage many runs -- as contrasted to other events where you may not get so many runs if you don't qualify, or get "knocked out" early in the race matrix.
We are just learning how to do this, so don't expect perfection in execution.
