Hey, folks. There has been lots of posts here and there about people needing rides, etc. to the Gathering 3. And as we all know, those posts are everywhere, which might make it difficult for everyone to find transportaion. So, this is an attempt to get people to post their needs in a singular place.
-----------------
My needs:
I am aiming to fly into BWI on Friday, May 2. Southwest, out of Providence, RI, costs $115 round trip--for all those interested.

Anyway, I am looking for transportation from BWI. Anyone else flying in to BWI and want to share a rental car? Anyone already planning a pick up from BWI and have room for one person a duffle, backpack, and 3 skateboards named Slim, Roadie, and Plank?

I will also explore driving from Boston, if anyone is making the trek and needs a passenger who can help pay for gasoline and wipe your forehead with a damp cloth if the driving gets too tough.

Here is my info:

Kudos to Matt for creating this forum!

I will probably be flying down to BWI. I need to run this by my parents, btu I think it'll work out. I will need a place to stay though. Joe you were telling me about some suites that a couple of people were looking at?

I am also looking for a place to stay. A campground would be fine with me. Any ideas? Reccomendations?

My budget is VERY limited (like you haven't heard this one form every other person lately!), since I will be jobless in approximately 1 month.

Matt, There aren't a whole lot of convenient camping options in this neck of the woods, and camping at the park itself is out. My recommendation for cheapest accomodation would be to find someone to split or triple-up on a room at the Red Roof. Then you're talking no more than $25 a night, and the Red Roof is only about a mile or mile-and-a-half from there. While it's not mine to be offering up for other people, you may also be able to find someone who can let you pitch your tent in their yard, which cannot happen in my little townhome community.

Thanks, Andy. I will check out the Red Roof.

We can carry signs that say, "will skate for food", or "give me a buck for every cone I don't hit.")

Matt, I would definately like to join, as well as form the splinter group, Coalition of Unemployed Slalomers Who Are In College and Have A Car That Can Barely Make It Up The Driveway.

There are two cheap ways of getting to the Shady Grove Metro stop from BWI depending on when you arrive.

There is an express bus that runs from BWI to the Greenbelt Metro station. The bus runs fairly frequently between the Metro and BWI but the Greenbelt station is kinda outta the way and will require you to change trains.

The best way is to take the MARC train from BWI to Union Station in DC. It's only $5.00 and is has a metro stop that goes directly to Shady Grove.

http://www.wmata.com has all of the schedules.

If you're staying at the Summerfields Suites you can likely arrange for pick-up and dro-off check with them for the scedule to Shady Grove station.
It's a nice short train ride.

That is what I used to take the transit to the bus terminal to get back to Canada.

Road trip!

Here's the plan-

Friday, May 2nd

Matt rents a car in Boston.

Picks me up at Deerfield.

Drives down to NYC/NJ area and gets 1 or 2 people who want a ride.

Continues on to Gaithersburg.

This would be cheap, flexible, and fun!

So... which east coaster along our route would like to hop on!? The cost of renting the car and gass would be split either 3 or 4 ways!

Joe and nick, THANK YOU!!!
i am still making plans for it, saving money and stuff.

my main problem is that the goverment itsnt selling USD to the travelers, so i have to register in the ministery of education & sports as a sportsman that will compete in a foreign event (shh, dont tell them that TG3 itsnt a race)

so lets see what happens in this coming month.

Thanks again my friend.

Leo, Just to be official... The Ncdsa.com Cyber Slalom Cup IS a race, so there's nothing to "shh..." about.

Vasocreta and I will be driving down through NYC and New Jersey on May 2nd. Brian, I have you down as a third passenger and roomie at the hotel, which we will be splitting 3 ways.

Is there a 4th person that we could fit into my mom's C230?

Matt and Henry,
I think I have found a 4th person. Marc Dean from Jersey is interested. I'll put you two in contact if everything is cool.
