the elsinore hill was nuts!!! if you guys think it was fast saterday friday was even crazyer.the cones were at least 6 inches closer to the sandbags and once the sun went down the speeds picked up even more.befor friday i had never gone around cones let alone get serious on a slolom board.i definatly wanna thank arab, olson, and everyone else who was out ther that day giving me a crash course lesson in slalom.i went up ther today and placed those big red cups wher the cone marks were and rode the hill like that.the bad part was i got to exspirience first hand the wrath of that hill after a took a good one going frontside.well you all take it easy and who ever is down to come out an dpractice with me drop me a line and lets go ride.

Wow Glenn -- Great timing on those shots! You're gettin pretty good with that thing!
Lighting conditions and wind/dust were really a challenge for those of us behind the lens. . .
Racing was radical and we definitely had our share of "bumps" along the way . . . good memories and bad . . . Especially bummed about our buds John O'Shei, Dave Hegstrom and Bill Wahl falling HARD. Luckily they will heal but was a bit of a reality check for sure. Just talked to Dave who is home from the hospital after suffering a fractured skull on Sunday. Time for a new helmet -- and taking it real easy for awhile.
On the up side -- had the pleasure of seeing the Carrasco Brother trio (Richy, Rene AND David) "united in skate" and competing in the same event -- first time since the 70's they tell me! Classic! As usual Richy "Brown Bomber" was an excellent sport who I can always be proud of! Awesome to see SSS at the top of the heap -- TWO DAYS IN A ROW -- GO CHICKEN!!!!
Great to see everyone who came out -- and alot of "new" faces and "big" names joining the usual cast of characters! Epic. Don and Jen had their hands full and Ed Economasher was really a trooper as usual! Many Thanks to them and all the others who helped out in the hot sun!
My full video report is in progress -- or at least in the lineup! Hoping to debut Deathrace '03 in Paso Robles, The WLAC Experience '99-'02 at the WLAC season opener May 18 and Elsinore will follow. Nothing like some deadlines to keep things rolling . . . Hope to see you all in a couple of weeks!
Peace.

The winds during the event were very unusual. Santa Ana winds blew both days directly up the course, except for the last few runs of the Pro's on Sunday when it started to calm down. Headwinds on Saturday were up to 20mph and about 15mph on Sunday early, and the winds were starting to calm down during the Pros race at the end of the day Sunday.
This hill would have been super fast had the normal ocean breeze of around 15mph been blowing over the mountain, and straight down the course.
Richy Carrasco shot the hill(no pumping, just going straight) at the end of race Sunday from about 3/4 up the hill when the wind had nearly calmed down. Rene his brother was driving his van and clocked him at 37mph. Imagine this hill with a normal tail wind.
This is not to say that the racing was not fast. Even with the headwind the racers were saying this hill is FAST,FAST,FAST. With a tail wind it might have been too fast for some. Racing speeds even with the headwind were around 30mph, and probably near 35mph maybe more for the Pros late Sunday.

Hey Jani,
I raced FCR Elsinore on Saturday, unable to make the Sunday race.
There will be an article from me and hopefully anyone else who cares to pen one.
Nice course, sort of what I would call a hybrid on Saturday. The hill was fast, surface was EXCELLENT with mucho grip.
Anyway, more words to come. Hopefully somebody will put up scores.
