I think there are plenty of places left for racers to sign up - most of the current entries are from racers who are already seeded in the top 32 pro or open class slots, so there are probably still at least 20 available slots divided between pro and open classes.
However, it would be a good idea for racers to put their name on the list now - I believe the deadline for payment will be at the beginning of the race week (somewhere around 7 October), so there is still time to make a decision without losing money.

Chris,
I will be attending. I would like to offer you this. I have signed up to qualify. I do not think, this being my first race, that I will make the cut against a field of strong contenders. If there is a problem with you or your friends participation, I will offer you my slot, I would be happy to.
By design of the Race's name, I think that it makes better sense to have an international challenger take my place.
Let me know, this is no problem at all.

Maurus Strobel told me in an email that he will be there with Chris Hart. We will see, maybe the FCR will be not too strict for uis Euros who make it all the way across the water and land and pay our own way and it will be possible to register on a short notice?
That would be cool!
I can´t wait to meet all you guys and skate in California!

Chris and I have now signed up. It looks like the European participants will be:
-UK: Paul Price, Martin Drayton, Michael Stride
-Germany: Chris Eggers
-Russia/Washington: Vlad Popov
-Sweden/France: Jani Söderhäll
-Switzerland: ??? Jack says they are coming, but none of them have signed in at NCDSA as far as I know.
Have I missed anybody?
Unfortunately not that impressive a list. We need a strategy for increasing European interest for next years contests. All suggestions welcome in European contest forum.

Jani,
please let me know as soon as your plans get serious, I still have some problems with my elbow, I don´t know if I can pull out of a starting gate hard enough. I will go for some practice later for the first time in a month and see how things are going. I would decide on a very short notice if I would join you if you do not mind.

Short notice since I started talking to them. Most Europeans are completely un-aware of the fact that slalom is happening again.
I haven't made any larger attempts either, I've only been working my closest friends so far.
We will need to come up with a common strategy on how to make European slalomers understand that things are happening. One strategy will be to bring some of the old competitors back again, but more importantly we need to interest a new batch of slalomers. Let that be our winter topic on this forum, so that we can work on getting a solid foundation for next year.

Chris, HH,
Yes, I am thinking about coming over to Morro Bay. I have yet to sort out my travelling, but once that is OK I should sign in. I will probably fly in on the 8:th or 9:th and travel back on the 15:th or 16:th.
I think it will be difficult to get many Europeans to come this year, but at least there will be some. The UK will definitely have several skaters participating. I was hoping to find a Swede or two, but it's too short notice for them this year. I'm still trying to talk one of my French friends into joining me, but without success so far.

[FCR 2002] European participation, how? - Contest info?
I am trying to get a few Europeans interested in participating in Morro Bay. Jack could you post something official about the possibilities for wild-cards etc for every European who would like enter? I heard something about it, but it would be good to have official information on that.
All information on how to sign up, costs, when to sign up, rules, etc (in the form of links to suitable sites) would be appreciated.
Thank you!
