WTB: Pavel or Kaliber TS deck

Post by Pat Holden » Thu Jul 27, 2006 2:26 pm

Looking for a 'new school' slalom deck with concave, no camber, wide tail and nose.

Thanks for looking

Pat

I think you should look after Pavel Gunner or Paul Price Model
these are probably what could be called "new school slalom board" and don't forget that they're made with terrific materials (light and solid)

probably AXE is something that can be in the same idea - probably some new kind of soon...

Some Kaliber boards have now some tails too, their concave is often more rounded
but now, most of the brands follow and add tails.

you can also look to the new Airflow Ramon Pro Model with a good concave and tail.
I will post pics ASAP.

remember if the board doesnt have concave, you can make some with foam. but when the wood is concaved, it is easier than laying down foam

thanks Luke-I tried the foam on my roe unlimited and whilst being quite effective it seems that a lot of pumping energy is lost in the springiness of the foam.

Pat, Donald makes killer stiff decks that can be handcrafted to your own specs. The Gunner and Roadster have proven raceform; the former in GS/ Hybrid and the latter in TS.

This deck is a custom version, based around Roadster specs:

Length 31"/ Width 9"/ Wheelbase 19.5" & 20.5"

Pretty damn fine.

Sam,
thanks for your usual kind advice. I'm definately getting a ts and something for hybrid/special. Should I get ready mades from Michael S or commision a bespoke number from Donald? I know he also does a TS board called a Rocka. What are your thoughts on those?

yeah its just a way to add "fake" concave to your board. i'm pretty sure you would get more response out of wood too. some people prefer the wood, and some foam. its all personal preferance

Got a Pavel Rocka off Michael Stride last night and it does indeed rock. The most amazing slalom board I've ever skated. Set it up with PPS RTX/Airflow and Manx's. It's totally stable and incredibly responsive. I'm definately a convert to the new school decks...
