Thanks alot Rick. I'm glad you like them and they're working out for you.

I'm slowly winding down my bushing making for now, but I still have a "small" amount of semi-finished bushings that I can make into rad, stim or z styles.

PM sent Eddie.

I bought some A11 rad bushings from Art a while back. Perfect. Nicely finished, even and to spec - they rock.

Dude, i had no intension in defaming your product. It was merely a point of interest i thought was relative to this thread. Even if the rumour were true i'm sure all of your quality made bushes would be sold out by the time we'd ever see the production ones.

Uncool post

Could the 2 rumours be linked?
I am all for more options, but this last post was uncool. There are plenty of places to discuss other similar bushings, but not on someone's post to sell a few items.

If anyone else is interested in placing an order for these bushings please let me know. Thanks alot for those of you that have already placed orders.

For JimZ bushes it near impossible to have a core free result. Mine actually have a very small scallop out of the top where the wheel cones in toward the bearings.

For harder bushes it really doesn't matter if there's small remnants of core. It would make a difference if you tried it for soft front truck bushes though.

I manage to position the core along the centre of the truck where there is minimal compression anyway. Sort of trying to keep things symetrical.

Here's some pics

Regarding how I make them,
First I split the wheel into 4 quadrants. Disc the inner and outer down to the thickness I want. then drill the hole out in the best position which will leave the most thane for what shape I want.
Mount them on a mandrel (threaded rod with washers and nuts) and turn them on a wood lathe using rasor sharp chisels.

I hear you Curt, that black stuff can get in the way. I tried to make a Holey hourglass and a lower Bennett bushing, but got alot of the wheel core in the bushing.
Have a good one

Art Pryde wrote:Curt, the overall shape of your bushings look very nice.
I generally try and stay away from having any of the black wheel core on my bushings, because I think they could make the bushing "ride" stiffer than their rated duro, and one side of the bushing could ride softer/harder than the other depending on which side of the bushing the black wheel core is more prevelant....Just some observations.
I actually try and do the same thing (remove all of the wheel core), but depending on the height of the bushing, and what wheel is used, you can't get around it. If you want 89a reflex bushings in an oversized shape (Jimz / Stim / Rad), you get to deal with the wheel core.

It's worth it... I run oversized 89a reflex bushings on the back truck of every one of my slalom boards.

Hey Art,

Not sure what Gareth's technique is, but I've made a few bushings out of 70mm wheels, and they still work fine with a small ammount of wheel core left in the bushing. Just make sure that you mount the bushing with the "wheel-core" side away from the hanger / on the washer side and I don't think the remnants of wheel-core make any difference.

Thanks for the compliment. As you and Vlad well know, these bushings take a while to make.

Good job!
I've been doing a bit of retro carvery myself.
Just for the record, Orange plus 89A make for unreal JimZ bottoms in Smokie 190mm trucks under my 85kg.
I also found that Reflex Radikal shape bushes work really good at 16mm high rather than 14.5 in soft duro's for front rad trucks.
