[2003] Festival Olympique de la jeunesse

Post by Jani Soderhall » Fri Jul 25, 2003 5:23 pm

When we had our regular Thursday session last night next to the Charlety stadium in Paris, we were pretty surprised to see that they were constructing a pretty big (>12 m wide) ramp in the middle of the stadium.

All across the stadium flags of various countries were displayed and the sound technicians were making their first sound checks.

Apparently the "Festival Olympique de la Jeunesse Européenne" will be held there from the 27:th of July until 1:st of August.

Apparently a follow up to the Pyrenean Adventure Games of 1993, except there isn't much adventure planned for this one...

On the official program just stuff like Athletics, basketball, handball, biking etc, but no skateboarding. Apparently when young kids compete they do athletics and other stuff. But apparently when they want to have fun they skate! It seems that the ramp is to be used in the opening ceremony or during evening events.

It's time to see some real action in the Olympic world!

See [url]www.FOJE-Paris2003.com[url] for those of you who are interested in what it's all about (not a word about skateboarding as far as I could see).

Free entry for spectators! If you live closeby it might be worth a stop.
