<img src="http://www.descente.fr/mambots/content/ ... i-0207.jpg" align="left"> Nicolas Simenel aka Xabi (his basque first name) falled of his longskate Thursday 16th at the end of a freeride run on the well known Mont Ventoux in South of France.
He was an experienced skater and was wearing the full safety equipment: full helmet, leather suit, gloves... but even a a quite low speed (they were just arriving at the end) the fall on the head took him after a few days in coma
The 21st of August has become a very sad day for the whole french longskate and skate scene.
His last words: "waouuuh c'est si bon!!" (waouuuuh it's so good)
At least he left this world living his passion.

He was an enthusiastic skater who skated everything.
Some of you met him at the PSWC or at some of our "Pirate Slalom" races with his Basque flag board, or perhaps in a bowl or during a downhill event.

We are touched very deeply by the loss of our ride brother.
We will never forget his smile and love of life.

Rest in Peace Xabi!

Its always sad to hear of someone young losing their life, I lost a friend at school when we were 11 years old. But as you say at least Xabi went doing what he loved.
Somewhere he is still riding carrying a Basque flag and smiling...

Condolences to his families, birth and skate.

Friends and riders of Le Havre (Normandy) realize a "graff" in memory of Xabi in the concrete bowl of le Havre.
