Even Siberia? What about Belarus? Kazahstan?
Somehow the idea of European Slalom Championships (or any decent major SLcomp) with prize money sounds more appealing than the idea of European Slalom Championships (or any major SLcomp) without any prize money...given that there is a good number of slalom competitions with a good prize purse.
Thanks!

Hi Peter
If I understand you ask for a popular approval for Stockholm as an Euro Championship?
Personnaly I'd like that, what an occasion to discover Sweden!
I hope to come. I suppose you'll confirm for sure the dates later
It's not bad that Euro Champs take place in a different country every year.
But to be fair, it could be better to know is there any competitors to organize the Euros?

Vincent, thanks for your input. Yes we are very much so looking and like I wrote asking the rest of Europe if anyone else have plans on hosting the Euros 2005.
We don´t just claim the Euros, we want YOU the Riders to let us know what you think. Euros status or not, we will run a Big competition in july.

Hi Peter,
It was great to meet you at Morro, even though we didn't get a chance to talk all that much.
Count Bahne and justpushplay.com in as a sponsor for the 2005 Euro Championships.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Peter,
Köln will be again, like the years before, around end of August .
I hope Axel Fischer is going to organize it again.
..with lots of coneheads from the kindergarden !
I'm looking forward to coming to sweden and have some cool days !
The last time I was in Sweden was for entering the swedish skate summercamp in Helsinge. I think it was 84/85 ?! That was the one where McGill was performing the McTwist for the first time !

Great Carsten, I can’t promise you Ill land a McTwist, I’m getting old and I have started to smell really bad in the mornings, but I will try to make it down the course. For those with skatepark needs Ill just have to say, Stockholm’s the place. We got a big indoor skate park and an outdoors pool park (three pools actually). Besides this mentioned we also have numerous of mini and vert ramps all over Stockholm.

All the Circle of the Lost Berrichons (organising the skatecamp in Bourges in the 80's) join me in my sending my regards to all the Swedish vert and freestyle, and slalom old timers... as Etienne likes to call us.

I've been to the french camp in Bourges too ! I think it was 2 times.
There were Gonzales, Staab, McGill, Welinder, V-7, Pierre Andre, Jamie Mouse Mosberg, and others.
I think the name of the guy who did that camp was nicolas Malinowski ?
Have you been there ?

Of course I was there I was (together with Nicolas, Christian,Bruno, fred and others) one of the guys who was organising it.
My main job when The Gonz was there, I think it was in 86, was to party all night and then prepare the breakfast, and then after a few hours sleep skate...
I also remember the skatecamp in Taby when McGill invented the Mctwist, and when with Lance and Claus they did their TRIPLE on the ramp, that was in 84.
Rodney was already doing impossibles and ollie flips... years ahead of everyone else!

Marking our calendar
Hello Peter -- It was really nice getting to know both you and Marcus a little better at Morro Bay.
I am working on our plans to come to Europe in 2005 and as we discussed hoping to hit as many races as possible while we are there. So far it looks as though the Paris, Gruen and Stockholm races are not close enough together for us to make more than one. Looks like we will have some tough choices -- unless we win the lotto or something between now and then. As for the Stockholm dates mentioned above -- we already have a conflict on our calendar since that is the same weekend of the Gorge Games/Hood River races which I think will be part of the American Cup Series again.
I'll be keeping tabs on what's being planned and want to book our travel as soon as possible once things are confirmed. If anyone has info on other races falling near the three major ones I'd really appreciate more info on those. Anything in Italy? Germany? Southern France?
In any case, looking forward to visiting with as many of you as possible in 2005.
PS -- I am listing all the Euro competitions on our SK8KINGS.COM calendar so would doubly appreciate being on the mailing lists of any of the event organizers reading this. Thanks!

Hey Maria,
I droped Richy a mail some time ago.
I will not talk anyone of not going to Paris or wherever, but the Stockholm thing will be something for Richy, and everybody. I can´t say to much at this stage but I think his 360s will come in handy in one of the events.
We are aiming at a great skateboard experience for more then just the slalom racers. How ??? we will get back on that.
I know many Americans want the European contests to be very close. If we would put them all in a few weeks, our season would be over before july. The USA races are not placed in convinience for the Europeans, for the same reason. I know you guys realy want to make it to as many European events as possible. The Euro guys want to make it to as many USA races as possible. As it looks now Paris is may 14-16, Hannover Germany june 4-5, Gruningen Swizzz june 18-19. We are thinking of moving Stockholm, cuz the major/main events would all be used up in Europe before the summer even starts. When we make a decision and the city approves the date we´ll get back to all.
How does the USA schedule look like for 2005 ?

Peter -- Thanks for replying. We of course understand it's not practical to bunch things too close together -- especially the major events. Don't mean to imply we expect you all to arrange your year around us. Our best hope will be to hit 2 if at all possible -- which is how it has worked out the last two years. Mainly, I'm hoping to be able to figure out our plan as early as I can and get our airfare secured. Where can I get more info on the Hanover race?
So far the US races are tentative by month with only specific dates for Hood River that I am aware of. Here is a quote from Gary Fluitt who is in charge of the ACSS --

I will keep our event calendar on SK8KINGS.COM updated as things are confirmed. Any info can be forwarded to me at: maria@sk8kings.com Thanks again! This is how it is looking for the 2005 Season. The goal here is to move the races around a little bit, and have a nice cadence leading up to the worlds. There are A LOT more races than will fit into the series. This is still open for debate. If someone would like to have their race in the series, you need to let me know. I'm open minded, and yet, I have some clear objectives.
April- Luna
May- Virginia Beach? (DC, Virginy crew working it)
June- San Diego
July- Hood
Early August - The Farm
Late August - Breckenridge
Sept- Morro Bay

I don't think it is absolutely sure. The race plans are serious, but I think details still has to be nailed down. July is the safest month (in terms of weather conditions) for a race in Sweden. Is this date absolutely sure?
That it'll be the European Championships is just a request. I think Peter is asking if anybody else wants to "compete" for next years euro championships.

Ramon,
Like Jani said it’s our request, I know Gints is putting in a bid from Riga, Latvia. Unfortunately for you their plans are the exact same weekend. I don’t know if it will make a difference but Euro status or not, I can promise you a memorable stay in Stockholm.
Update:
I spoke with the City and they are very exited about the event. We are putting everything on paper right now. The format is also going to be put up on the web-site sometime in march. Hopefully will the sponsors be just as exited as we are. SKF should be interested considering their product and the status skateboard will receive very soon in the Olympic committee. This is a hint to you know who.

Happy New Year everybody, now you all should get involved. Stockholm wants to put on a comp as fair as ever. To do so we need an independent group of three, chosen by you the riders, to be there and speak in the name of the competitors. This group of individuals can race themselves but not required; the whole idea is to have a communication between the rider’s representatives and the event coordinator about any issue regarding the competition.
For example: Paul Price races Janis Kuzmin and Paul claims Janis was given the wrong time and that Janis should actually be the one advancing to the next round, then Paul would go to anyone of the three riders representatives. Then the rider’s representatives would speak to the contest coordinator and solve the mistake. Personally I doubt it will be any mistakes but just in case…
So put up suggestions here or mail me and we’ll see whom the riders chose to represent them, most votes get the honor, if he/she accepts.
PS: Swedes don’t get to vote.

Chris, The contest in Stockholm will be a big event. However it will be the European Championships I can’t tell you yet. We put up our request on this site to see who was interested in hosting the Euros and at the same time show our interest. The decision of whom the hosting nation will be is up to ISSA. Stockholm is so far the only city whom showed interest.
IF THERE ARE OTHERS INTERESTED IN HOSTING THE EUROS. POST IT NOW. THE DECISION WILL BE MADE BY ISSA SOON.
Off course Stockholm wants to host the euros.
Please do not forget the racers representatives, so far nobody have voted. COME ON, VOTE. It´s for you, it should be in your interest.

OK, GREAT, now we talking. Thanks a bunch for getting the voting going.
Just something for swedes to remember.
YOU DON`T GET TO VOTE.
