KINGPINS
I always look over the trucks after every run and dismantle and clean every couple of weeks and Wipe them over after every skate. I expect these trucks will need a bit more TLC and they are so nice I don't mind one bit. I also wax my deck with a teflon boat wax but don't tell anybody !

I took a beef recently when the swing arm broke off my back Radikal. But I was so anxious to ride the course that day I did not check my equipment. If I would have checked it I would have noticed the allen screws were loose. You live and you learn. The folks at Radikal have allways replaced any broken parts on their trucks free of charge. How many companys can garuntee their products for life. Eddy Texas Outlaw on the mend.

Kingpin breakage and replacement.
Hey guys, Jack Smith here, I've taken over sales and customer service for Radikal. I'll get with Mark and Sparky and see that your questions and concerns are answered.
I've been riding the same front truck for almost two years now, and haven't had a problem. Maybe, I'm just not pushing them hard enough, that happens with age. I'm lucky enough to skate with a gear head named Bill Boothbe, who keeps my gear turned.

Yes, Radikal pins break.
I've broken two and one time was at speed with no pads....shoes...shirt.........
BOTH times were flatland pumping.
Both times were with a kingpin/baseplate that had not been modified with the "recessed thread".
If your baseplate is threaded all the way to the top of the openning, it must be sent in. Sparky will bore out the top threads so the top few MM's are more like a sleeve. This will strengthen it up.
There is no charge for this and since your pin broke, it's obviously your only choice.
Also, Sparky told me he recommends kingpin replacement once a year under normal use.
Normal use can mean many things, but once a year isnt a bad idea
Rad folk....as you rebuild your site, it may not be a bad idea to have a "maintenance list" for these trucks. What to do with bearings, inspecting for wear, warnings against overtightening the nut, checking for loose parts, replacement schedules, etc.
With a hanger, baseplate, insert, two bearings, kingpin and two axles, that's 8 checkpoints compared to a standard truck with 3 (baseplate, hanger and kingpin), there's just allot more going on under the feet.

Broken Kingpins
While we wait for an answer from Mark, has anyone had a kingpin break ?? I had one go while pumping on flat ground. This is a truck thats had 6 months of mild pumping...........never raced ........never even run through cones. That was 10 days ago and my ankle still isn't better. I don't want to think what that would have been like at speed!!

Kingpin replacement
How often should I replace the Kingpins in my Slalom Trucks?
