I am considering riding Vans tonight. Anyone else interested in a park session. No cyber slalom for me. My plan is to hit the hills on Saturday.

I would have ridden with you, Mike, but I have been away from the internet all day. I did in fact check out BullRunn - pavement is totally dry and no salt, and apparently no additional damage from trucks either. Places off limits to vehicles are a blessing. Unfortunately, the wind was too much today. I then went to Fountainhead and rode wind-free, but the snow to the right of the pavement, down the embankment, was deep enough to cover your feet. If a struck cone flies down there, your shoes get all wet.

Out of the loop Saturday. Checked Walker this morning. Runoff and enough sand to make a beach. Did anyone check Bull Run? Anyone for a Sunday session somewhere?

Dan & Mithc are at P&R. Snow melt runnoff is wetting course there. I'm going to check out Battlefield and BullRun. Will call people to update about them and to find out what's up.

I think several people are going to be at G-P&R today no matter what. The only one that I know the mobile phone number of is PA Dan - not answering. Right now, I don't know who has the timer, Vlad or Slappy. I think it might be Vlad - no answer though and Slappy is a busy signal, with no answer on cell fone.

TOMORROW. Saturday, March 8.

The weather's supposed to be pretty nice, and having never been plowed into piles, I'm thinking The Gathering Site might be thawed out. Unfortunately, I no longer have a car to run over there and check in the morning.

Anyway... if I can get over there, and it is both clear and unoccupied (I can't imagine that it's been rented) I''ll be riding.

There are a number of things we need to find out about that place. I'd like to try to see if we can get a dual TS on the Main Hill, and I'm also going to re-confirm my recollection that a slight adjustment to the Ncdsa.com Cyber Slalom Cup course site will put us in a more level spot than last year.

IMPORTANT! If The Gathering Site is clear, unoccupied AND we want to use it without paying rent, we may do so, but we cannot drive in or park our cars at the gate of the area. The two best parking options for that area are either to park in the lot on the left just before you get to the ticket booth or drive in and past the entrance to the Cardinal area. After passing that entrance, take the next left and there is a parking lot immediately on the right.

There is a chance I may be able to find a way to get over there early tomorrow a.m. to check the conditions. If I do and the news is good, I'll try to have it posted here by no later than 8 a.m.

Who’s up for slalom at Vans tonight? Slappy has Brian’s timer and he said he would bring it (right Slapp?). I’ll be riding the actual park tomorrow night with Cabbage.

Mike, Where on the Southwest Airlines website are the $130 round-trip deals? The $130 fare I see is for each way.

Fellow DC racers. You know who you are.

A ticket to Ricky Byrds race in Mississippi is going for $133 out of BWI on Southwest. It leaves either on Friday the 11th or Saturday the day of the race and returning on Sunday. At this price there should be no excuse not to go. We can also split a hotel room to save $$. So far myself, Noah and Kenny are going.

Tonight's session might not happen. I'll be watching the weather channel all day long (with a 24-hour Gieco typ'o cup o' coffe) and follow "the latest developments in the massive snow storm" that just hit DC again. I'm "staying tuned" and "bringing you the latest news"… "we'll keep you posted every hour, 10 to the hour, right here", on ss.com TV.

It might not be so bad tonight. Maybe a "race"?

Still staying tuned...after all these years....

Did anyone make it to the Vans park last night? My driveway was almost clear enough for me to leave for Vans, but the tractor that was clearing the snow got broken. I was stuck there and pssd off because of it. I want to ride so badly.

I've been a winter person all of my life, and this winter has been the first that really recalls the winters of my youth.

This also happens to be the third major storm in my recollection that has fallen on the Presiden't Day or George Washington's Birthday weekend.

In fact, seven of the top-ten winter storms in D.C.'s recorded history have occurred between the 7th and 21st of February.

Except for a little sleet overnight last night, this one's about as good as it's ever been.

...and Tway, I'm sure we'll be using your timing system at T3G. Hopefully the USSSF will be able to own, at least, one of our own by then.

I did hear on the news last night that DC got a total of 3" last winter. Hope you guys survived yesterday. We are in the middle of it right now. Here is a live view from times square.

GBJ,

Not sure what timing system you are planning to use for this years Cyber Slalom Cup but I hope to have a demo of our new tone generated system on hand if you should need it. Looking forward to my first Gathering.

Eat Yellow Snow

Go snowboarding..............

WesE, the other day I scored a couple of passes to Liberty. I'll flow you one of them. Get some some modern equipment (try some from this decade)...... or you could watch football.....

Have not been on a slalom board since WV. The wheels are rusted on the board.....

Don't know when I'll get back into slalom skateboarding.........

Soul carving a longboard seems to be all I need when not snowboarding........

Eat Yellow Snow

Vlad, I sometimes unintentionally write in ways that allow the message to be taken several different ways. I wasn't actually upset with you at all. I meant that I wished I hadn't mentioned the increase in speed before refining it to the point of doing it everytime. Next time I announce such a speed, I will be ready to prove it.

All these semantics must make people wonder if I'm really having fun with it. My answer is - Yes, definitely.
