[2006] Antibes International slalom 2006

Post by Pierre Samray » Mon Nov 14, 2005 11:49 pm

Here are some news from south of France.

Antibes International Slalom will take place during the last week of September. (or first week of October not to clash with Gruningen) Ed note Nov 30, 2005. /Jani

We'll try to make it during 3 days. (One flat part and one on the Garoupe hill)
RACES : Tight, special, giant and of course our traditional "nations slalom".
PLACE : Salice and Garoupe but we're studying the possibility to eventually move the race.
ANIMATION : 2 big parties and bbq (one with live music). freestyle demo, child slalom...
MEDIA : a big work on the promotion with local and national media to bring crowd in La Garoupe.
ACCOMODATION : We try to lodge all the racers at the same place near the race and at low cost.
INFORMATION : Internet site will be ready before the end of the year. Any question here before it ready.
SPONSORING AND PRIZES : We begin now to pick up sponsors for our event.

I want to thank all the racers present on the precedent editions 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005 and especially all those who came this year even if we haven't really promoted the event.
It was fun! And give us the willingness to continue..

Hi Pierre,

please notice that we have the Zurich competition at the same time as your world cup.
We can't move the race, because there is the carfree day in the city of Zurich. There are 100'000 people in Zurich on this day and perhaps we will be the Highlight of the whole event, what means a big media coverige.

It will be Sunday the 24. September 2006.

Is it possible for you to have the race one week before or after the competition in Zurich ?

It will be bad to have two competitions on the same date.

No prob Jadranko.
I respect your work and never put a date at the same moment as your event.
Certainly one week after. I'm waiting to see the city before deciding, but some people from the beach have complain about the disturbation, that why we move a little bit later in the season.

Invitation in Antibes on Dec 4th

Post by Stefano Bellingeri » Wed Nov 30, 2005 2:38 pm

Hi Pierre,
unfortunately I won't be able to participate on Dec 4th. In fact I will have to be in Turin for the Olimpics Saturday afternoon and I'm too tired to jump on the car on saturday evening.
Sorry and many thanks for the invitation. I promise that I will be there next year.
Ciao,
Stefano

It should happen on September 30 - October 1.

I think that is a pretty safe bet. We discussed it a couple of weeks ago and it is still announced as that on Riderz.net.

At that time Janis Kuzmins needed to know and by now I think that he has already booked his ticket, so I hope it won't change now.

Thanks Ramon!
I know Antibes it's a very special place where racers seem to be more at holiday than at race. ( shouting with the micro to get the racer out of the sea to go to the start! it's really typical in Antibes!)

We are working hard to put the registration certainly next week on the net with the official internet site.

here is the official site

http://www.antibeslalom.com/index.php?act=0&lang=fr
We are working to have soon the english version but you already can register no use to speak french.

We certainly propose an easy accomodation in front the sea near the Garoupe. We have reserved about 40 beds. We give you complete information very soon.

We add soon all the informations about accomodations.
We are just waiting for the answer of "RELAI INTERNATIONALE DE LA JEUNESSE" which will be only open for us. It's 300 hundreds meters from the giant track front the sea.
I think it's no use looking after another place to sleep.

See you in Antibes

Hello Claude
So you will be there!
Great news!

The tracks : The giant is fast (I think more than Brixxleg) but shorter (30 secondes)
special and tight will be on a flat track (but our start ramp give you a good speed!)

We have some pictures on the site

Unfortunatly not. It was what I had previous first.
But there is a big pedestrian race on the same day.
The city let me 2 solutions : Cancel or move to the parking. I have chosen the second solution! But remember the very hot public we have at night on this place Ramon!! All these (practicly ) nudes girls shouting....Ra...mon! Ra..mon!
You know for sure it will be more difficult to beat Luca on this type of track...I'm sure you'll enjoy the challenge. :-)

Pierre, Maria & Richy & Jason mentioned they we're interested in going and I am sure that after ASR this weekend Maria will be able to find a cheap flight if they can make it.

They'll all be at La Costa and I'll see if they are still attempting the trek. We talked about having a North American Team in the Nations Cup this year neither of us would have 3 of our own.

Thanks for the e-mail we write you in a bit.

Ramon tell Chris to check his e-mail again. What days are you practicing before Zurich so we know when to plan our travel days, EH!
