I'm sure Keith Moons statement "going down like a lead ballon" will never describe this new Chill deck. I am sure this deck will be the Hammer of the Gods.

H O O A A H ????????

I hope that's topsider speak for >FNA< I LIKE IT???? :-)

And Paul, when's the last time you bought a hammer???????

Thought so............time to put a nice new styly one in the tool box......hehe

I've set mine up with a Rad front at +15* and jacked that up w/ 1/2" of riser...
The back has a 90mm Gen III Split dewedged 13* with no additional rise.
I prefer a lower feeling in back and the way the tail of this board is shaped
you can just bury your foot in that pocket and PUSH to the contentment of your triceps surae.

Actually, the GRAF ZEPPELIN (LZ-127) was one of the most celebrated and SAFE vehicles ever constructed and flown. From it's around the world flight in 1928 to it's final voyage home from South America on that fateful day in May, 1937. Logging over one million miles and carrying 20,000 passengers, he was indeed a magnificent ship.

Anyone wishing to purchase a MAGNIFICENT poster of this fabulous airship is more than welcome to go here:

http://members.aol.com/ogservice/GrafZeppelinOffer.html

($15.00 pre paid includes shipping and handling.)

Of course, maybe the reference was for the GRAF ZEPPELIN 2 (LZ-130.) This sister ship to the ill-fated HINDENBURG (LZ-129.) The LZ-130 first flew one year after the demise of the LZ-129 and was absorbed into the Luftwaffe and never carried a paying passenger. The LZ-130 made several espionage flights off the coast of Great Britain. Subsequent analysis of data collected indicates the Germans were well aware of British RADAR, but they were incapable of linking the telemetry with a probable cause.

Then there's THE GRAF ZEPPELIN, Germany's only completed aircraft carrier. Laid down in 1935 and commissioned in 1938, 800-foot ship really did nothing during the war. Goering refused to develop aircraft for the ship and as such squandered it's potential. Captured by the Russians after the war, he was sunk during target practice in 1947.

I guess when Frank said, "you're goin' down" he was making an analogy to an aircraft carrier?

WTF Tucker? If ur not a walking talkin' encyclopedia then no one is. Now , about the real Oles ship...

It's nice. You're gonna' want one after I kick-it in Ole Miss and St. Louis. I'm going to have to buy a new pair of Sperry's so I can grace this ship appropriately.

Frank knows our rivalry is a friendly one. We have taken turns barely beating each other out for the 20th plus spot for the past few years now. I believe it’s my turns to edge him out at out next race.

I just finished eating a whole box of girl scouts (thin mints.. yum) cookies I bought yesterday, so I don’t feel very lean & mean at this moment.

Well from a C class racer, I like it. Really though the pocket is sweet and you are right on with calling it that. My foot found it right off and stayed there.

The front is nice and wide, it is also lighter than my axe, and just enough flex to make it feel not like the axe. Uh the finish is good, I love the whole shape. Nothing I don't like about it.

However I have only pumped it up and down the street. I just haven't had time to put it through cones yet. This will be my go to board except for all the tightest spacing.

DISCLAIMER: I still like my axe II and have nothing against it. SK8 kings are good people.

All day Sled Zepplin

Post by Stephen Lavin » Sun Mar 18, 2007 11:05 pm

Okay, not all day. Rode my new 31" KHSS too.

I put Radikals on my sled front and back after playing around with my legacy truck collection. Wedged front 15* and went flat in the rear (looks flat anyway) by way of one 1/4" flat riser and two 10* Khiros. I used the higher (toward deck) radikal Tail setting and it deadend things up. I also lowered another 1/4" and it helped my pump. I ran out of Edger deck tape - so I had to get creative - I hate running out of stuff I always need. Anyway I played with some heights and like it where it is.

The first pic below is out of focus but the tick mark on the scale where it meets the top of the deck is 4". The rear pic is in focus (the only thing that is in focus after last night).

keith gave me some good advice for which I listened to 1/2 - :) - my drill died so I could not drill back the rear on my 31" to make some way for the beefy Talons. Tod's board is similar to the Midnight Special so I am getting comfy with it fast. Keith's deck is solid almost zero torsional flex and it will take me some getting used to but I'm liken' it a lot.

Stephen and Ben,

I'm glad your liking the deck... The idea with the rear of the deck was to have it be
rockered out like a S-camber to the 9th degree. This is why I was running
just enough wedge/riser to get the rear truck angled flat (35* Splitfire)....

Now I've gone a step further and I'm experimenting with having the rear truck mounted "flat to the tail" w/ a 1/2" riser which gives a steering angle of approx. 42*.
With the way the rear is lower than the front it gets the ball of your rear foot on basically the same level as the back pivot cup...so even with more potential
steering it's hard to get the rear of the deck to step out of line because you have less advantage over it...
I also like the feeling of the front foot being higher, like your pressing into the concave.

I need a toe stop even more now because I can really push against
the back of the deck so hard with my rear foot locked in so tightly... I'm really digging this setup.

My Nikon's batterey took a crap... I'll get some pics up later in this thread...sometime
eventually.... I hope :-)

Hey Tod and the crew,

Shape looks awesome! Can't wait to see one in person and give her a spin down the hill. Mucho camber on that badboy. I like it, its in the same vein as the other kicktail boards out there but with its own flare. Now I get alot of what we were talking aboot in NC and whatnot, its cool to see the sum total of your ideas. Wouldn't have accepted any less from you guys.

Keep on rocking,
Chris.
