Meet up around 9:30 and set up for practice starting around 10. We'll get the timer set up and give everyone some qualifying runs- we'll do some fun bracketting afterwards.

Glenn can your timer to differentials?

Directions
From I-93 N, take exit 33 to Fellsway West (Rte 28). Go N 1.8 miles to reservation entrance. Follow the road inside to the parking lot. Pack light, you might have to park on the outside.

I am planing on being there on Sunday. As it is wired now, the timer can not do differentials. There is a built in 1 sec delay before the second switch can stop the timer. It is in there to prevent the front and back wheels from starting and stoping the timer. I could make it less that 1 second but there would still need to be some delay.

Don't worry about the differntials we don't need the timer for dual, just a judge and cone count.

Karl et al,

Have a good time tomorrow! I thought I was going to be able to make it - but unfortunately it is not going to happen for me. Luckily we got a little Cape session in today.

See you at Needham 2!

*** RACE THIS SATURDAY ***

Post by Dan Parrish » Tue Jun 19, 2007 4:26 am

Hybrid/GS on Saturday the 23rd

Here's what's planned:
A fast flowing GS course on a dead end residential street.
Road condition: 9/10 Antrim units.
Timed jam format - take as many runs as your legs allow.
Best time at end of the session wins.
Will tailor the course for who shows up. May need to set up a "warm-up" race down the street if we have a lot of novices show. Did I mention the GS will be fast?

An "outlaw" event, but these are my neighbors- so behave.
If things go well I'll drag out the barbeque for a closer. Bring it, Ill grill it.

If all goes well with the twins tonite, we should be able to saunter on down by 10:30 or so. They're resting peacefully,,, so far...
We'll bring Burger/Hotdog stuff, too.

Dan, that road looks really nice! Can't wait to get on down it! ;-)

Dan's Hill!!

Post by Eric Brammer » Sun Jun 24, 2007 4:46 am

Wow!! That's some of the best tar I've carved on!! Great little (but steep) hill, absolutely perfect spot to session.

Dan, Thank You for the hospitality, grill, munchies and a place to play that I could bring the family to without worries!! I'm stoked on the playground, front And backyard.. :-D

To the N.E. crew, great to have ya'll there, the vibe was great, and the dual racing was fun to watch. Glen, Dan and Rick are steppin' it up, looking plenty fast, at least until Nick dropped in on the DH board (nice work on that!). The Karl/Adam show was pretty entertaining, too, on and off the hill. For someone who's jetlagged from traipsing about Europe, Karl was pretty spry. John showed too, and I want to thank his daughter for helping look after my kids; Much appreciated. Oh, and thanks to Nick for letting my wife take Justin for his 1st downhill skateboard ride. 6-3/4 months old, and he was hangin' 5...

We had a great time! ;-)

What a ridiculous hill man. Perfect pavement and a pitch that throws you at those cones.

Racing is fun but grass roots is what it's all about. Dr. Dan threw down on some excellent burgers and tight slalom against Glenn, your cookin with that Ick. John friends broke out some fast runs in sandals, extra traction by curling your toes over. Rick Floyds been workin on his ski influenced style, good flow. PSR was parenting in between runs, mostly his twins but Adam and I got our share too.

It was a lot of fun racin Adam up and down that TS course. We kept changing the starting rules about pushing each run, I kept forgetting what we were doing.

Thanks everybody for an excellent session, and almost more importantly the free food.

Dan could we have a legit race on this hill?

Look out for a slalom session in the next two weekends at the Soapbox hill, in the morning beginner slalom/clinic and in the afternoon head to head TS.

Thanks everyone for coming. I had a great time and am glad you enjoyed it.

I've been scoping out the neighborhood and may have a few other locations we could try. Haven't found one that has pavement like that (or is quite as convienient ;o) yet.
Yes, we'll do it again, as soon as I fix the timing troubles. Again, sorry 'bout that.
--Nick, got it. If we're not in, it will be on the porch.

Peace.

Herr Doc-tor!

Great time yesterday! Good to get the new Fullbag dialed. Good to see Fleck and Burgess getting into it...who better than PSR to coach 'em! I can't believe we ran three completely different course including a dual...seeeet!

Karl - do the soapbox hill on the 7th if you can...I'll be in Ottawa this coming weekend.

We're gonna pull an outlaw session at our SoapBox hill, Sunday July 8th. Morning is going to be a Giant Slalom which will be set up as a beginner clinic. Please if you have extra slalom stuff, wrench it together so we have as many set ups for beginners as possible.

After that we're pulling out all the stops, head to head TS. Eat yer weaties.

Soapbox Hill

Post by Eric Brammer » Sun Jul 01, 2007 2:47 am

Hey Karl, I'll attempt to be there. It's always a tug-of-war along the lines of Family agendas on Sundays, as church is important, as are the chores (ah, yes, the Twin's clothes, fixing the waterpump, all the stuff that family life brings). I can't promise anything this far in advance (like, I'll know, um, Saturday?), except that if I come, i'll bring boards, some pads, and a coach... ;-)

Today was an awesome session. It took a little bit to get things started but we skated the hill until around 4pm when it started to rain. I got some good pictures and a video of your 10.50 second run Karl.

Also Glenn I have your timer so I can get it to you when you get back from your trip.

And Rick or Karl, either call me at 978-239-6211 or send me an email at nsc1120@gmail.com about the deal with driving to Ohio because my mom said I can go, and I have the money so I'm all set to go.

Dan,

Thanks for keeping the spirit alive. I am badly in need of a slalom tune up or Farm Aid as you put it. Historically the week or 2 before the farm is the only time I practice consistently so its time to get on it. I am definately in for this Sat. and will book the day. Maybe when we're worn out we can head up to the flow pool, I have not ridden it yet. Feel free to give me a call Dan, and let me know what I can do to help. JF

Glenn,

Sorry for the slow reply! Unfortunatley, I won't be able to make it up on Saturday now to the Fells for some much needed practice (I can't believe I haven't ridden there yet).

Karl,

I was speaking with one of my wife's friends about slalom down at the beach the other day - and what does she pull out - a Karl Floitgraf Ocean Frog/NECF Card - she was dropping off her kids at birthday party in Needham and talked to you and Weasel ( I presume).

Small world,

OK, so no big turnout for FARM AID '07 huh?
Well, you'll all be sorry when I'm looking down on y'all from the top of that podium. You'll all be thinking, "That could have been me if I'd just attended Farm Aid."

I and John"runner-up" Friends will be there and likely hitting the Northampton Park afterwards.
We'll make it ~9am instead, to escape the heat.

Troy - enter "42.453766,-71.106219" (without the quotes) into Google Maps and choose the satellite view...you'll see the soap box track next to the clearing in the park if you zoom in. It's called Middlesex Fells Reservation.
