More Double Name Clarification

Post by T Whalen » Wed Feb 07, 2007 3:59 am

Corky,

Upon reviewing the 2006 Mens-Am list I think the following (from the Old Gold Jug Race in Antrim, NH) need to be corrected also:

Place/Name/Point - Full Name (Gold Jug Finish)
393/Derek Derek, USA/334 - Derek Smith, USA (5)
414/Justin Justin, USA/298 - Justin Collins, USA (8)
448/Adam Adam, USA/271 - Adam Daniels, USA (12)
452/Terry Terry, USA/267 - Terry Whalen, USA (13)
469/Glen Glen, USA/252 - Glenn Chapman, USA (16)
475/Michael Michael, USA/249 - Michel? Gamache, CAN (17)
485/Dan Dan, USA/242 - Dan Parrish (aka Dr. Dan), USA (20)
498/Fred Fred, USA/235 - Frederic Poulin, USA (22)
504/Amy Amy, USA/226 - Amy Roche-Moss, USA (27)
508/Mario Mario, USA/225 - Mario Kula, USA (28)
512/Rebecca Rebecca, USA/224 - Rebecca Filion, CAN (31)
580/Raylene Raylene, USA/109 - Raylene Hill, CAN (33)

A few need their country changed and Amy, Rebecca and Raylene should be moved into the women's group.

Terry

Thanks all for your comments on double names. Better late than never. Normally the rules are that comments on previous years ranking can be done until Jan 31 the year after. After that it stays put as it is. But until I compile the first 2007 ranking I guess I will take into account all the fixes I can.

World Ranking Pro points is only awarded to a race with 8 or more pro racers attending. If less pro riders the Pro/Am turns into an Open event with Pro riders result first and Am riders result after. Same the other way around. If an Open event has 8 or more Pro riders it turns into a PRO-OPEN race where the pro riders get PRO points and then others get AM points. PRO, OPEN and AM have different point tables so in the end it somehow balances itself out for most. Some may gain a little and some may loose a little. For better PRO riders though it is important pointwise that they make sure the PRO field is big enough (ie 8 or more).

Kathrin Sehl is 5:th in the 2006 Women World Ranking (counting multipe seasons). That is up 2 placements since 2005. She was third during 2006 alone. So Noemi Reichel and Nastasja Wolfensberger have to start compete more again because Kathrin is closing in.

Did the Texas Outlaws submit the results BEFORE March 1? If not, the updates won't be until after the first of the next month.

Of course, I'm assuming one of the Texas guys sent Corky an e-mail with the final results.

I'm about to update the first World Ranking update for the season, the March 31 - 2007 update.

I just forgot to mark those who want to sign up as being PRO for 2007. Important in the rankings until you enter a PRO class event. These are some guys who did well in AM class last year and that this year is going to be in PRO class:

1. Adam Schwippert, USA: PRO
2. Dominik Kowalski, GER: PRO
3. Joe McLaren, USA: PRO?
4. Mikael Hadestrand, SWE: PRO
5. Hans Göthberg, SWE: PRO
6. Henrik Wadsten, SWE: PRO
7. Patrick Allan, FRA: PRO
8. Art Pryde, USA: PRO?
9. Mike Cividino, CAN: PRO

Others?
Brad Jackman, USA: PRO?
Troy Smart, USA: PRO?

This season of 2007 you have to demand status Basic/Prime/Main/Major by using the ISSA sanction document found here:

http://www.slalomskateboarder.com/ISSA/ ... nction.doc

Current ISSA sanctions are found here:

First ranking calculation for 2007. A little surprise in the Pro World Ranking. We have a new leader! This year the 2003 results no longer counts. It may have affect on some racers. Also some Pros are finally getting three results in the World Ranking this year and will move up into the top.

Corky - Thanks for your efforts. It's always fun to see the updated status.

One thing, I noticed that the Harbor 100 held on 11/11/06 in San Pedro, CA, USA seems to not be included. Was that an oversight? I thought I had followed the 2006 rules for Basic status and had sent in the results. Please let me know if there was something I missed.

It's up to the American Coordinators to straighten that problem out. Just give me an official explaination and decision from them and I will update the ranking accordingly.

Points mistakenly awarded for 3rd event at Texas Sizzler

Post by Pat Chewning » Thu May 31, 2007 8:45 am

The ISSA N. American contest coordinators unanimously agree that the PRIME status points awarded for the "bonus" straight tight slalom event at the 2007 Texas Sizzler should be deleted from the World Ranking system.

The results of this "bonus" unsanctioned event were mistakenly included with the real results from the sanctioned Hybrid and GS races.

June 30 ranking has been up for a while by the way. More than 50 000 visits was reached a couple of days ago.

Help wanted!
To make the site evolve as it was planned from the beginning ISSA will need some help. We need more people to help out with the different tasks. Getting in results, small event articles, Calendar administrator aso. At least one for each region would be nice. Php programmers are also welcome. ;-)

July 31 ranking is up.

Help wanted!
To make the site evolve as it was planned from the beginning ISSA will need some help. We need more people to help out with the different tasks. Getting in results, small event articles, Calendar administrator aso. At least one for each region would be nice. Php programmers are also welcome. ;-)

There are quite many tasks if you think about it. To make it work it is good if many are involved but with very limited responsability. Then the chance is bigger that things will be done by each and everyone.

Here are the posts that would be good to fill for 2008 World Ranking Administration.
- Supervisor
- Article administrator?
- Sponsor administrator?
- Php programmer
West Atlantic (South America, North America)
- Head Marshall
- Marshall 1
- Marshall 2
- Calendar Administrator
- Result Administrator
East Atlantic (Europe, Russia, Asia, Australia)
- Head Marshall
- Marshall 1
- Marshall 2
- Calendar Administrator
- Result Administrator

The chain as I see it is...
1. An organizer sends in the ISSA contest sanction form demanding status for an event.
2. The form is handled by the three Marshalls depending on in which region the event is. They decide what status the event will have and the head marshall updates the descision on www.slalomskateboarder.com forums (Contest sanction forum and Calendar forum)
3. The Calendar administrator then can update the ranking calendar according to the sanction form that is filled in.
4. When the results come in the Result administrator will format them according to the rules and send them to the Supervisor.
5. Supervisor can update the website database with results from each event.
6. Result administrator will also add a news article about the event with the overall results and links to the complete results from the database.
7. After each month the Supervisor calculates a new Ranking and updates files to the website. Adds a new ranking article and a new homepage top 20 ranking.

On top of this if someone want to make an article about the event directly on the ranking site this is possible but should then follow some sort of a standard template. Same for possible photo galleries from an event. This would need an article administrator to update the website with the articles and make sure text and photos are added correctly.

And if we want to introduce possibility to sponsor the ranking site in general or events in particular we would need some kind of a sponsor administrator to handle all that.

Puh...

Corky - in the July rankings I am listed as being from Canada, but I'm from the USA - Warren, Vermont (close to Canada, Civ calls it "Southern Canda"), but it's definitely US.

Also, if it makes a difference in the masters rankings, I'm 45.

I emailed you through the link on slalomranking.com a while back, and I know you are busy, so my apologies if this is already being dealt with...I appreciate all you do for the sport!! :-)

There have been some people who has shown intesrest in helping out. Even a php programmer!!! So hopfully we can set up some organisation around the ranking site from both sides of the Atlantic. As you can see on the site we are playing around with the interface for adding articles and interviews for the events as well. But to make that work there is really need for more people to help out.

There are some Basic and Plain events still missing due to time constraints. But all the main events are up. And by that the final ranking for 2007 have taken form. This is very much how the final ranking will look like in the end.

To make the site evolve as it was planned from the beginning ISSA will need some help. We need more people to help out with the different tasks. Getting in results, small event articles, Calendar administrator aso. At least one for each region would be nice.

There have been some people who has shown intesrest in helping out. Even a php programmer! Hopfully we can set up some organisation around the ranking site from both sides of the Atlantic. As you can see on the site we have been playing around with the interface a little. We would like to add articles and interviews for the events as well. But to make that work there is really need for more people to help out.

There are quite many tasks and to make it work it is good if many are involved but with very limited responsability. Then the chance is bigger that things will be done by each and everyone.

Great news Steve! Since you are doing it officially I have added your name above. :-)

I will come back to everybody with more details of each task. The idea is having many persons doing small tasks. That way everybody will do their work well and get more motivated. Instead of the other way around.

Thanks Guillaume,

I have added you above as result administrator. Getting hold of event results and formatting them in a good format for the world ranking import will help a lot.

Sometimes only trying to understand the result lists is a hassle.

Also the naming issue is a general problem. Lots of results have only one first name or one last name or a nickname. Luckily, my registration program can figure out most of them but it does create mistakes now and then. The best is of course if the result lists have correct names from the start. That is something one would expect at least from the higher status events out there.

Just curious,

How come when I look at the 2007:
"total women" all nationalities, I am #4 with 2379 points
"legend women" Judi & I are tied at #1 with 2320 points
"Am women" all nationalities, I'm #3 with 2503 points????

I am SO confused.
